Measurements of the concentrations and characteristics of dust dispersed in air or other gases may be necessary (1) to determine the need for control measures, (2) to establish compliance with legal requirements, (3) to obtain information for collector design, and (4) to determine collec tor performance. 

The system concept demanded for a system driven solely by solar, no additional fossil fuel should be used. Therefore, the required storage volume and the investment costs for collector array and storage have been calculated as a function of collector array size and solar fraction. A computer simulation of the system has been made evaluating the seasonal performance of the system under the meteorological conditions of Amberg. Figure 272 shows the results.

Lower original potential in grinding is beneficial to flotation selectivity of galena. Thus, collectors should be added into the mill directly. Table 10.12 is the results of flotation separation of Beishan concentrator of PbS-ZnS ore for collector addition in different places. It shows that the recovery and grade of galena concentrate are improved obviously when collectors are added in mill compared to in agitator.

One of the factors that has contributed to the botanical misidentification of both species, is that collectors are usually not trained to differentiate the trees 9,10). The morphological characters of the leaves, flowers and fraits clearly showed that both trees can be easily differentiated, thus providing a guide for collectors to avoid the misidentification in the field 14, 15). 

The limits quoted above can be made more stringent if the materials are to be used in very critical areas. If required, the collector plate can be examined by an infrared spectrometer to determine the IR spectmm, and hence chemical nature, of the contaminants. The use of materials deemed acceptable by these limits does not necessarily ensure that contamination will not occur. The screening test is done at 125°C in order to accelerate the outgassing to ensure a measurable change is observed. Comparisons of various materials are thus only really valid at this temperature. The measurement of contamination is only comparative and also strictly valid for collectors at 25 C with similar surface adhesion properties. Also it is worth noting that this test says nothing about the species that is being evaporated. 

Flotation performance of the collectors can also be predicted from data in Table 5.7 [4], For collectors (1) and (7), due to introducing an acceptor, the bonding power of sulfur atom to iron ion is decreased markedly, but the bonding power to copper ion stays strong. Therefore, the selectivity of separation of copper mineral from pyrite is improved. However, the reactivity of the collector (2) to the two minerals is increased because of introducing a donor group with poor selectivity in flotation.
