Floor assembly

A structural flooring assembly separating the interior of a vehicle from its undercarriage shall meet the performance criteria during a nominal test period as determined by the railroad. 

The nominal test period must be twice the maximum expected time period under normal circumstances for a vehicle to stop completely and safely from its maximum operating speed, plus the time necessary to evacuate all the vehicle s occupants to a safe area. The nominal test period must not be less than 15 min. Only one specimen need be tested. A proportional reduction may be made in the dimensions of the specimen, provided it serves to truly test the ability of the structural flooring assembly to perform as a barrier against under-vehicle fires.

The lead factor in surveillance specimens for upper floor assemblies is lower than 1 and therefore such results cannot be used for prediction of irradiation embrittlement of RPVs. 

Most of the sets were withdrawn and tested by standard procedures before it was concluded that such an approach was unacceptable. Determination of neutron fluences on individual specimens was characterized by a high uncertainty. Differences in neutron fluences within one group of specimens for testing transition temperature shift exhibited high values (i.e. up to 50%). Amino resins are manufactured throughout the industrialized world to provide a wide variety of useful products. Adhesives (qv), representing the largest single market, are used to make plywood, chipboard, and sawdust board. Other types are used to make laminated wood beams, parquet flooring, and for furniture assembly (see Wood-BASED composites and laminates). 

The floor outside the enclosure for a distance up to I m in front of the switchgear assembly, the assembly being in its normal position. 

CP-1 was assembled in an approximately spherical shape with the purest graphite in the center. About 6 tons of luanium metal fuel was used, in addition to approximately 40.5 tons of uranium oxide fuel. The lowest point of the reactor rested on the floor and the periphery was supported on a wooden structure. The whole pile was surrounded by a tent of mbberized balloon fabric so that neutron absorbing air could be evacuated. About 75 layers of 10.48-cm (4.125-in.) graphite bricks would have been required to complete the 790-cm diameter sphere. However, criticality was achieved at layer 56 without the need to evacuate the air, and assembly was discontinued at layer 57. The core then had an ellipsoidal cross section, with a polar radius of 209 cm and an equatorial radius of309 cm [20]. CP-1 was operated at low power (0.5 W) for several days. Fortuitously, it was found that the nuclear chain reaction could be controlled with cadmium strips which were inserted into the reactor to absorb neutrons and hence reduce the value of k to considerably less than 1. The pile was then disassembled and rebuilt at what is now the site of Argonne National Laboratory, U.S.A, with a concrete biological shield. Designated CP-2, the pile eventually reached a power level of 100 kW [22]. 

Several large applications for one-component moisture-cure urethane adhesives are available. Polymeric MDI is an exceptional binder for wood products, such as oriented strand board and particleboard. One-component urethane windshield adhesives are used almost exclusively in both the OEM and automotive aftermarket. One-part urethane adhesives are used to assemble the sidewalls for recreational vehicles (RV s), manufactured housing, and mobile homes. In construction applications, one-part urethanes are used to bond metal doors, hardwood flooring, panels, and partitions.

Load/Assemble /Pack Operations (LAP). Small. Mostly floor washdowns and generally similar to Pink Water. They include a) dissolved expls b) dust and chips and c) heavy metals from paints and corrosion and metal cleaning. The washout of reject munitions at some LAP plants can contribute substantial additional effluents when washout operations are running... 

Refrain from assembling incomplete models and uncertain coefficients into a spectacular theoretical framework without thoroughly testing the premises. Definitive answers so produced all too easily take on a life of their own as they are wafted through top floor corridors. 

Figure 1 indicates a typical nitroglycerin facility "inside out" wood frame construction at a concrete floor slab. Note that the exterior cant strip, the lead conductive floor cant and the wood cap are all sloped to discourage product build-up and facilitate cleaning. This assembly also indicates spray-on foam insulation as an optional construction item. At Radford AAP this is a safety approved insulation system. The insulation at Radford AAP received a chlorinated rubber paint coating for weathering.

Where water will create a serious fire or personnel hazard, a suitable nonwater automatic extinguishing system should be considered. Penetrations through fire-rated floor, ceiling, and wall assemblies by pipes, conduits, bus ducts, cables, wires, air ducts, pneumatic tubes and ducts, and similar building service equipment should be protected in accordance with NFPA 101 , Life Safety Code. All floor openings should be sealed or curbed to prevent liquid leakage to lower floors. Door assemblies in 1 -hour rated fire barriers should be y4-hour rated. Door assemblies in 2-hour rated fire barriers should be 1 V2-hour rated.
