First aid equipment

First aid (equipment, materials, trained personnel) and resuscitation... [Pg.414]

Emergeney response funetions (ineluding transport of injured personnel, first-aid equipment, and eontainment equipment)... [Pg.64]

Many operations involving chemical reactions are potentially dangerous, and in such cases recommended procedures must be carefully followed and obeyed. All laboratory workers should familiarise themselves with local safety requirements (in some laboratories, the wearing of safety spectacles may be compulsory), and with the position of first-aid equipment. [Pg.72]

Caution HCN is a highly toxic, volatile liquid (bp 27 °C) that is also susceptible to explosive polymerization in the presence of base catalysts. It should be handled only in a well-ventilated fume hood and by teams of at least two technically qualified persons who have received appropriate medical training for treating HCN poisoning. Sensible precautions include having available proper first aid equipment and HCN monitors. Uninhibited HCN should be stored at a temperature below its melting point (-13 °C). Excess HCN maybe disposed by addition to aqueous sodium hypochlorite, which converts the cyanide to cyanate. [Pg.93]

Provide an appropriate supply of first aid equipment and instruction on its proper use. [Pg.47]

It is vital to know what to do in case of an accident. This includes being familiar with the fire fighting and first aid equipment, and knowing how to get assistance from qualified personnel. [Pg.4]

In any production facility the job of a safety engineer, medical personnel, and supervisor is to locate a place where first-aid equipment can be made easily accessible and without any hindrance. The workers should be given training by trained paramedical staff for first aid and other similar important practices. [Pg.46]

Have appropriate equipment and materials available in advance for spill control and cleanup. Consult the MSDS for each chemical to determine what is required. Replace these materials when they become outdated. Provide an appropriate supply of first aid equipment and instruction on its proper use. [Pg.43]

Laboratory safety requirements. Escape of potent anti-ChE into the laboratory environment should be avoided by chamber design to prevent leaks into the atmosphere, including negative pressure differential with respect to the exterior. Protective clothing (including respiratory protective equipment), in the event of a leak or fur handling residually ctmtaminated animats, and appropriate first aid equipment and antidotes should be readily available. [Pg.402]

Each chemical laboratory must-clearly display such available facilities at strategically located positions, namely first-aid equipment, nearest telephone, emergency medical team(s), hospital(s), and fire hrigade(s), so that in the event of an accident and immediate action is feasible. [Pg.7]

First aid supplies are required to be readily available under paragraph Sec. 1910.151(b). An example of the minimal contents of a generic first aid kit is described in American National Standard (ANSI) Z308.1-1978 Minimum Requirements for Industrial Unit-Type First-aid Kits. The contents of the kit listed in the ANSI standard should be adequate for small worksites. When larger operations or multiple operations are being conducted at the same location, employers should determine the need for additional first aid kits at the worksite, additional types of first aid equipment and supplies and additional quantities and types of supplies and equipment in the first aid kits. [Pg.397]

Whether first aid treatment can be given on the rescue boat, will depend on its size and the state of the rescued person. One of the crew members should be trained in first aid. Boats should at least earry sterile wound dressings and some bandages, a sucker for clearing a person s airway, and blankets. All first-aid equipment on board should have waterproof protection. [Pg.93]

A first aider may aiso undertake the duties of an appointed person. An appointed person is someone who is nominated to take charge when someone is injured or becomes iii, inciuding caiiing an ambuiance if required. The appointed person wiii aiso iook after the first aid equipment, inciuding restocking the first aid box. [Pg.45]

When training workers, review the first aid equipment and responders available at a given facility or jobsite. [Pg.384]

Prepare to deal with emergencies by making sure that safety and first aid equipment are readily accessible and exit pathways are not blocked. [Pg.314]

Make training and information available to the employees, especially in such areas as first aid, equipment operation, and common safety policies. [Pg.20]

Where there are 250 or more persons at work on a site a suitably staffed and equipped first-aid room should be provided. However, where there is a large workforce (over 150) which is divided into several dispersed working groups or the location of the site makes access to places of treatment outside it difficult, the needs of such a site may be better met by the provision of first-aid equipment and trained first-aiders at different parts of the site. [Pg.671]

Have on site the first aid equipment and trained persormel to deal with the expected range of incidents involving hazardous substances, e.g. refrigerated calciitm gluconate gel for hydrofluoric acid. [Pg.390]
