Host Government Fiscal system - tax rate - royalty rate - royalty in kind (e.g. oil) - company status (e.g. newcomer) - project status (e.g. ring fenced)... [Pg.306]

Capital allowances may be accepted as soon as the capital Is spent or may have to wait until the asset is actually brought into use. In the case of the newcomer company or the ring-fenced project the allowance may only be able to commence once there is revenue from the project. [Pg.310]

A project is ring-fenced if, for fiscal purposes, its fiscal costs can only be offset against revenues earned within that ring fence. [Pg.310]

The sassafras tree itself grows like a weed in the wilds and along disturbed fence lines throughout the south, southeast, eastern... [Pg.31]

Filtration installations include wrapping the trench of a pavement-edge drain system to prevent contamination of the underdrain placement behind retaining walls and bridge abutments to prevent contamination of the sand blanket placed against the stmcture to allow dissipation of pore pressures in order to avoid failure of the stmcture as silt fences to allow surface mnoff from a site while retaining the soil suspended in the mnoff and on earth slopes beneath larger stone or other overlay materials to prevent erosion of the slope as water escapes from the interior of the slope. [Pg.260]

Advanced composites and fiber-reinforced materials are used in sailcloth, speedboat, and other types of boat components, and leisure and commercial fishing gear. A ram id and polyethylene fibers are currentiy used in conveyer belts to collect valuable offshore minerals such as cobalt, uranium, and manganese. Constmction of oil-adsorbing fences made of high performance fabrics is being evaluated in Japan as well as the constmction of other pollution control textile materials for maritime use. For most marine uses, the textile materials must be resistant to biodeterioration and to a variety of aqueous pollutants and environmental conditions. [Pg.73]

When a sound wave comes in contact with a soHd stmcture, such as a wall between two spaces, some of the sound energy is transmitted from the vibrating air particles into the stmcture causing it to vibrate. The vibrating stmcture, in turn, transmits some of its vibrational energy into the air particles immediately adjacent on the opposite side, thereby radiating sound to the adjacent space. For an incomplete barrier, such as a fence or open-plan office screen, sound also diffracts over the top and around the ends of the barrier. The subject of this section is confined to complete barriers that provide complete physical separation of two adjacent spaces. Procedures for estimating the acoustical performance of partial barriers can be found in References 5 and 7. [Pg.315]

Vegetation Control rights-of-way along fence rows, roads, highways, railroads, utility lines, pipelines... [Pg.142]

Pressure Swing Adsorption. Carbon dioxide can be removed by pressure adsorption on molecular sieves. However, the molecular sieves are not selective to CO2, and the gases must be further processed to achieve the high purity required for "over the fence" use as in the urea process. Use of pressure swing adsorption for CO2 removal appears most appHcable to small, stand-alone plants (29). [Pg.349]

Conoco operated a stirred tank Pfaudler glass-lined reactor for the batch SO sulfonation of detergent alkylate. The plant utilized over-the-fence SO converter gas (8% SO ia dry air) having h batch cycles (264). AHied Chemical Company provided details for batch SO sulfonation (265,266)... [Pg.86]

Wood is an important natural resource, one of the few that are renewable. It is prevalent ia our everyday Hves and the economy ia wood-frame houses and furniture newspapers, books, and maga2iaes bridges and railroad ties fence posts and utiUty poles fuelwood textile fabrics and organic chemicals. Wood and wood products are also a store for carbon, thus, helping to minimise carbon dioxide ia the atmosphere. [Pg.320]

Electrostatic spraying is used in shops to coat conductive objects. It is very useful for odd-shaped objects such as wire fence, cables, and piping. An electrostatic potential of 60,000 volts on the object attracts oppositely-charged paint particles the spray can wrap around and coat the side of the object opposite to the spray gun. This technique produces very uniform finishes and has the least paint loss of the three methods. However, it is slow, requires expensive equipment, produces only thin coats, and is sensitive to wind currents. [Pg.366]

Fire and uncontroUed polymerization are a concern in the handling of chloroprene monomer. The refined monomer is ordinarily stored refrigerated under nitrogen and inhibited. This is supported by routine monitoring for polymer formation and vessel temperature. Tanks and polymerization vessels are equipped for emergency inhibitor addition. Formalized process hazard studies, which look beyond the plant fence to potential for community involvement, are routine for most chemical processes. [Pg.549]

For banks of staggered tubes, the friction factor for isothermal flow is obtained from Fig. (6-42). Each fence (group of parametric curves) represents a particular Reynolds number defined as... [Pg.663]
