Proteia and starch stains are removed by proteases and amylases, respectively. Fats and oils are generally difficult to remove at low wash temperatures by conventional detergents. By usiag Upases, it is possible to improve the removal of fats/oils of animal and vegetable origin even at temperatures where the fatty material is ia a soUd form. Particulate soils can be difficult to remove, especially if the particle sise is small. Removal of particulate soil from cotton fabric can be improved by use of a ceUulase which removes cellulose fibrils from the surface of the yam. 

Is a water-soluble detergent and wetting agent. It is also used as an emulsifier in emulsion polymerization and as an emulsifying agent for fats, oils, and waxes. 

Aside from softening, a smaller amount of oils and fats as detergents are also used in preliminary cleaning of the raw skins and hides to suspend lime particles, buffer the alkaline solution that removes the epidermis and hair, and suspend these materials when they come off to remove grease to tan certain types of leather and to control the penetration of dyes.

Products and Uses An additive in coconut oil, laurel oil, vegetable fats, soaps, detergents, and flavorings in foods. Used as a lubricant, soap, foam, or bubble agent.
