Warning Recommendations

Caustic soda is classified as a corrosive material by the DOT and DOT regulations and specifications must be followed for handling, labeling, and transportation in containers. Warning labels are recommended for containers of caustic soda solutions and anhydrous caustic soda by the MCA (79). The DOT identification number is UN1824 for 50 or 73% Hquid, and UN1823 for anhydrous caustic. [Pg.515]

Protective measures iavolve prompt detection and adequate ventilation. Continuous monitoring is recommended to signal an evacuation alarm if the workplace concentration exceeds 70 mg/m (50 ppm) and a warning alert if it is present at 15—70 mg/m (10—50 ppm). [Pg.136]

It generally is recommended, and often required, that gas dcicciiuii systems be installed in a fail-safe manner. That is, if power is disconnected or otherwise interrupted, alarm and/or process equipment shutdown (or other corrective action) should occur. All specific systems should be carefully reviewed, however, to ensure that non-anticipated equipment shutdowns would not result in a more hazardous condition tlian the lack of shutdown of the equipment. If a more hazardous situation would occur with shutdown, only a warning should be provided. As an example, a more hazardous situation might occur if blowout preventers were automatically actuated during drilling operations upon detection of low levels of gas concentrations than if drilling personnel were only warned. [Pg.514]

It is hoped that these recommendations and even warnings for SEC column users will also give an important signal for the column producers to introduce further progress in this area. [Pg.457]

It is the duty of the consulting engineer to make a recommendation to the client as to the type of supervision required, and the client must not refuse a reasonable request by him for on-site supervision. Where a client refuses a reasonable request for on-site supervision, the consulting engineer should warn him of the possible consequences, otherwise he might face a claim for negligence later. [Pg.93]

The entire label of the prescription or nonprescription drug container must be read, including the recommended dosage and warning. [Pg.57]

Spectinomycin. Spectinomycin may be given as a single dose, but multiple doses may be prescribed for complicated, widespread gonorrhea. The nurse warns the patient tiiat the IM injection may be uncomfortable and tiiat soreness at die injection site may be noted for abrief time. The nurse emphasizes die importance of following die primary healtii care provider s recommendations... [Pg.105]

Warns that dosages greater than 10 sprays in each nostril every 3 to 4 hours are not recommended. [Pg.521]

If the medicinal product (s) is currently licensed it is recommended that the current summary of product characteristics (Previously known as the data sheet) is consulted for appropriate contra indications, precautions and warnings. [Pg.83]

Significant changes in the Summary of Product Characteristics (SPC) such as, the introduction of new contraindications, the introduction of new warnings, the reduction in the recommended dose, the restriction in the indications, the restriction in the availability of the medicinal product. [Pg.258]

In 1992, the FDA issued a moratorium on silicone-gel-filled implants, and restricted their use to reconstmction and clinical smdies. In 2000, they approved saline-filled implants. In 2003, the General and Plastic Surgery Devices (GPSD) Advisory Panel recommended reapproval of gel-filled implants, but the FDA decided to wait for more clinical evidence of safety. In late 2005, the Panel recommended conditional approval of Mentor s and Inamed s gel implants. In October 2006, Health Canada approved the use of sUicone-gel-filled implants, with a warning that no medical device is 100% safe. ... [Pg.200]

Some of the elements of the NDA are of particular significance to the pharmacist. For example, in the statement on labeling it is necessary for manufacturers to abstract from their clinical summaries that which is both recommended for the description of the use of the drugs and that which is necessary for the warning or... [Pg.632]

Another recent tool has been developed within the ORCHESTRA project. The tool keeps into account both the chemometric information and the toxicity predictions done by the model, and in particular what kind of errors have been done by the model. It applies to the CAESAR QSAR models. Furthermore, this tool is based not only on the a priori data and information, as the other approaches, but also on the a posteriori result of the model. The user knows if the model can or cannot be used for a certain compound. In some cases a warning is given, recommending expert opinion. In all cases the reasons for the reliability is given, and it can be evaluated in a transparent way. [Pg.85]
