Ethanol solution composition

An aqueous ethanol solution of acrylamide, 2,2 -methylenebisacrylamide as cross-linked agent and third acrylamide derivative, is dispersed in an n-alkane. Then three monomers are polymerized to spherical porous gels. The effect of the composition of the third monomer on the exclusion limits of the gel in size-exclusion chromatography has been investigated (82). [Pg.22]

These compounds usually give many of the reactions characteristic of phenols and were long considered to exist completely in the hydroxy form (see, for example, reference 42). It has been noted that the ultraviolet spectra of aqueous ethanolic solutions of hydroxy-acridines varied with changes in the composition of the solvent, and this phenomenon has been interpreted in terms of the equilibria 132 133 and 134 135. Some compounds of these types show... [Pg.381]

Evidence for an Interfacial Tension Mechanism. The mechanism was later tested with longer Pt/Au rods, various diameters and finally solutions of ethanol/water made up in varying ethanol concentrations. Ethanol was chosen because literature values exist for the interfacial tension of various ethanol/water compositions. Figure 3.3 shows the variation of the product of tension and the oxygen flux with particle speed as evidence in support of a interfacial tension mechanism. [Pg.31]

These composites were prepared by mixing a fluorocarbon solution of the perfluorinated PPl dendrimers with an aqueous ethanolic solution of Pd, thereby forming an emulsion. After phase separation, the fluorous phase, which contains the dendrimer-encapsulated Pd +, was treated with a reducing agent yielding zero-valent Pd nanoclusters trapped within the dendrimer (Fig. 24). [Pg.123]

The kinetic behaviour of fructose crystallization from aqueous ethanolIc solutions, typical in composition to those operated on an industrial scale, is strongly dependent on supersaturation, solvent composition and temperature. Provided the supersaturation is kept below 35 C of subcooling, nucleation does not occur. [Pg.208]

On addition of Na -saponite to the rhodamine-ethanol solution and the pyronine-ethanol solution, the color of the solutions gradually faded within a few hours, even at room temperature. All the composites were intensely colored, namely bright red for Rhodamine 590 and cardinal for Pyronine Y. [Pg.191]

The data in Tables I-XVI (see Appendix for all tables) show the isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium results at the boiling point for potassium, ammonium, tetramethylammonium, tetraethylammonium, tetra-n-propylammonium, and tetra-n-butylammonium bromides in various ethanol-water mixtures at fixed liquid composition ratios. The temperature, t, is the boiling temperature for all solutions in these tables. In all cases, the ethanol-water composition was held constant between 0.20 and 0.35 mole fraction ethanol since it is in this range that the most dramatic salt effects on vapor-liquid equilibrium in this particular system should be observed. That is, previous data (12-15,38) have demonstrated that a maximum displacement of the vapor-liquid equilibrium curve by salts frequently occurs in this region. In the results presented here, it should be noted that Equation 1 has been modified to... [Pg.109]

Composition. Crystals deposited from ethanol solution as well-formed thin plates. The fatty acid content of the crystals is given in Table I. For all chain lengths the acid content approximates closely that required for 1 to 1 stoichiometry. This is also the case for most of the acid-soaps prepared by the petroleum ether route the low values of titratable acid in some instances are ascribable to the presence of free soap. [Pg.76]

We have studied photocatalytic properties of nanostructured metal-semiconductor composites, made from mesoporous samples of Ti02 and a number of metals (Cu2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Cd2+, Fe2+, Ag+, Zn2+, Pb2+) in hydrogen evolution from water-ethanol solutions. Correlations between the quantum yields of the photoreaction and various parameters of the reacting system (such as the metal nature and concentration, photocatalyst quantity, light intensity, temperature) have been found and discussed. It has been shown, that maximal quantum yield of hydrogen production (y = 0.44) could be achieved in case of Ti02/Cu composite. [Pg.595]

The TBA and water are removed during the lyophilisation cycle and the resulting lyophilised powder or cake is reconstituted with propylene glycol, ethanol and citrate buffer pH 5 prior to administration. Thus, the final dosing solution composition is similar to that of the original co-solvent formulation. [Pg.367]

Isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium data at atmospheric pressure are reported for the four systems of the present investigation in Tables I-VI. Salt concentrations are reported as mole fraction salt in the solution, while mixed-solvent compositions are given on a salt-free basis. A single fixed-liquid composition was used for potassium iodide and sodium acetate potassium acetate used three—all chosen from the region of ethanol-water composition where relative volatility is highest. In the... [Pg.21]

The meaning to be attached to pH values obtained in different solvents and under different conditions needs interpretation. For example, solutions of pH 5 in the three solvents water, ethanol, and acetonitrile do not denote the same acidity (acidity defined as a measure of the tendency for protons to be donated to basic substances). In view of what is known about transfer activity coefficients (Section 4-1), an acetonitrile solution of pH 5 is far more acidic (higher absolute activity) than an ethanol solution of pH 5 and, in turn, one in ethanol is more acidic than one in water. The significant point is that a solution of, say, pH 5 in a given solvent has an acidity 10 times the acidity of another solution of pH 6 in that same solvent. A single universal scale of pH for all solvents does not exist instead there is a different scale for every solvent of differing composition. To denote pH values in nonaqueous solvents, the... [Pg.87]
