Ergonomics basic principles

Basic Principles of Software Ergonomics and Work Analysis... [Pg.528]

Theoretical basics (principles) are developed that represent the foundation of stmctured development of programs stmctured progranuning, step-by-step refining, secrecy concepts, program modularization, software lifecycles, entity relationship model, and software ergonomics... [Pg.21]

Bhattacharya, Amit, and James D. McGlothin, Occupational Ergonomics Theory and Applications. New York Marcel Dekker, 1996. Provides a comprehensive look at basic ergonomic principles, including physiology of body movement practical applications for the workplace medical implications and case studies in various industries. [Pg.729]

Moving beyond personal protective equipment, chemists routinely use safety shields (Figure 7.2.1.2) for some reactions. While it may seem odd to run a reaction with the expectation of an explosion, it is simply true that some reactions are more prone to explosions than others, even under controlled circumstances. Furthermore, even experienced chemists have had reactions go out of control unexpectedly. Sometimes such incidents are later understood and sometimes they are not. Safety-conscious chemists develop a good sense of how hazardous a reaction might be. A basic safety principle is to overprotect rather than to underestimate a hazard. While using shields might be ergonomically cumbersome at times, the extra protection they offer is worth the small effort. [Pg.426]

Most dentists do not seek any treatment for pain, which may adversely affect the condition and increase the severity of injury. Regular exercise and physical therapy would be a possibility to reduce the prevalence and severity of these diseases (Shrestha et al., 2008), but some dentists prefer take painkillers, and very few seek medical treatment (Harshid et al., 2012). However, the most important advice is the dentist should pay attention to their movements, which must be rationalized within the basic ergonomics principles to provide higher performance and lower prejudice (Garbin et al., 2008). [Pg.45]

Make work area design a priority, and use ergonomic principles to help minimize work-related complaints, illnesses, or injuries. Some basic considerations would include evaluating force, duration, position, frequency, and metabolic expenditure of administrative workers. The most significant factor in the ergonomic equation addresses the working position of each individual. For example, administrative personnel working with computers for more than 4 hours daily can develop hand, arm, shoulder, neck, or back maladies (Table 4.1). [Pg.64]
