Epichlorohydrin-dimethylamine

Polyamine/EPIDMA (epichlorohydrin-dimethylamine) Cationic coagulants, usually supplied as solution liquids of 50% activity or emulsions of 40%. They have 100% charge and MW in the 100,000 to... [Pg.48]

PoIya.mines are condensation polymers containing nitrogen they are made by a variety of synthetic routes. Most of the commercial polyamines are made by reaction of epichlorohydrin with amines such as methylamine [25988-97-0] or dimethylamine [39660-17-8] (18,19). Branching can be increased by a dding small amounts of diamines such as ethylenediamine [42751-79-1]. A typical stmcture of this type of polyamine is stmcture (9). [Pg.33]

Substitution of an additional nitrogen atom onto the three-carbon side chain also serves to suppress tranquilizing activity at the expense of antispasmodic activity. Reaction of phenothia zine with epichlorohydrin by means of sodium hydride gives the epoxide 121. It should be noted that, even if initial attack in this reaction is on the epoxide, the alkoxide ion that would result from this nucleophilic addition can readily displace the adjacent chlorine to give the observed product. Opening of the oxirane with dimethylamine proceeds at the terminal position to afford the amino alcohol, 122. The amino alcohol is then converted to the halide (123). A displacement reaction with dimethylamine gives aminopromazine (124). ... [Pg.390]

Polyepichlorohydrin and dimethylamine Polymerisation of epichlorohydrin in carbon tetrachloride with boron trifluoride/ether catalyst, then reaction with dimethylamine. Applied to cotton by exhaust method or pad-dry. Scheme 10.65 Good yields with direct dyes using only 2 g/l salt. Excellent build-up with most reactive dyes only 10% of normal salt usage needed for low-reactivity dyes and none for highly reactive types. Washing fastness very good but light fastness impaired. [Pg.209]

Cationic monomers are used to enhance adsorption on waste solids and facilitate flocculation (31). One of the first used in water treatment processes (10) is obtained by the cyclization of dimethyidiallylammonium chloride in 60—70 wt % aqueous solution (43) (see Water). Another cationic water-soluble polymer, poly(dimethylamine- -epichlorohydrin) (11), prepared by the step-growth... [Pg.318]

Several copolymers and condensates of oxidized starches with polymers have been developed. For example, products of starch dialdehyde condensation with acrylamide were prepared for further copolymerization with various monomers to form resins for coatings, molding powders,585 and materials for immobilization of enzymes, for instance, alpha amylase.586 Hypochlorite-oxidized starches were also reacted with acrylonitrile.507,521 Hypochlorite-oxidized starches were allowed to react with allylated starch dialdehyde,587 polycondensates of ammonia-dimethylamine-epichlorohydrin,588 polycondensates of starch dialdehyde with melamine,589 urea433,541,590 capable of precipitation of tannin591, carboxyamides,411 urea and formaldehyde,592 proteins,524,593,594 polyfyinyl alcohol),595 alkylammonium salts,519,596 alkoxyalkylamines,597... [Pg.207]

CHLOROFORMIC ACID DIMETHYLAMIDE (79-44-7) Combustible liquid (flash point 155°F/68°C). Rapidly hydrolyzed in water to dimethylamine, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen chloride. Violent reaction with strong oxidizers. Acid or acid fumes form toxic chloride fumes. Aqueous solution is incompatible with sulfuric acid, alkalis, ammonia, aliphatic amines, alkanolamines, alkylene oxides, amides, epichlorohydrin, organic anhydrides, isocyanates, vinyl acetate. May increase the explosive sensitivity of nitromethane. Attacks austenitic stainless steels, causing pitting and stress corrosion. [Pg.295]
