Environmental certifications

Edwards, A.J. ISO I400I Environmental Certification Step by Step. Oxford, U.K. Butterworth-Heinemann, 2001. - Written primarily for small and medium-sized enterprises, this book sets out an overall program for establishing an EMS, and provides step-by-step directions for implementation in conformance with ISO 14001. [Pg.386]

Estimation and prediction as to whether waste rock and tailings will produce acid mine drainage (AMD) are precursory to environmental certification, and therefore are a critical step in mine development. Kinetic tests are carried out using a cell or column that are operated over a period of typically 1 year, whereas static tests are a onetime measurement to determine the acid producing potential (AP) and... [Pg.83]

Now more than ever, the right certification makes an enormous difference in your career advancements. Validate your safety competency with any of our sought after safety, health and environmental certifications. Visit bcsp.org to learn more about these and other career-building paths in safety. [Pg.30]

Environmental certification programs include Green Cross and Green Seal in the United States, the Blue Angel program in Germany, the EcoMark in Japan, and the Environmental Choice label in Canada. [Pg.553]

IR Certification Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1702/2003 laying down implementing rules for the airworthiness and environmental certification of aircraft and related products, parts and appliances, as well as for the certification of design and production organisations. [Pg.34]

The introduction of environmental issues tems (EMS) is under way and has come farthest at the German plants, which achieved environmental certification/ registration. See Fig. F-23. [Pg.352]

On 28 September 2003, EASA took over responsibility for the airworthiness and environmental certification of all aeronautical products, parts, and appliances designed, manufactured, maintained or used by persons under the regulatory oversight of EU Member States. [Pg.152]

Internal methods of quality assessment should always be viewed with some level of skepticism because of the potential for bias in their execution and interpretation. For this reason, external methods of quality assessment also play an important role in quality assurance programs. One external method of quality assessment is the certification of a laboratory by a sponsoring agency. Certification is based on the successful analysis of a set of proficiency standards prepared by the sponsoring agency. For example, laboratories involved in environmental analyses may be required to analyze standard samples prepared by the Environmental Protection... [Pg.711]

National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The NIST is the source of many of the standards used in chemical and physical analyses in the United States and throughout the world. The standards prepared and distributed by the NIST are used to caUbrate measurement systems and to provide a central basis for uniformity and accuracy of measurement. At present, over 1200 Standard Reference Materials (SRMs) are available and are described by the NIST (15). Included are many steels, nonferrous alloys, high purity metals, primary standards for use in volumetric analysis, microchemical standards, clinical laboratory standards, biological material certified for trace elements, environmental standards, trace element standards, ion-activity standards (for pH and ion-selective electrodes), freezing and melting point standards, colorimetry standards, optical standards, radioactivity standards, particle-size standards, and density standards. Certificates are issued with the standard reference materials showing values for the parameters that have been determined. [Pg.447]

Guidelines for Certification to ISO 9001 - Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems (and BS7750 -Environmental Management Systems) in the Chemical Industry (1992)... [Pg.554]

Regulatory requirements may apply to health, safety, environmental emissions, and electromagnetic compatibility and these often require accompanying certification of compliance. In cases where customers require suppliers to be certified to ISO/TS 16949 it imposes a regulatory requirement on the design process. [Pg.247]

Environmental assessment or request for categorical exclusion Statements of claimed exclusivity and associated certifications b Prescribing information 0. Annotated labeling text d. Labeling comparison (for ANDA)... [Pg.114]

Certificate of exclusion from environmental assessment or assessment report as applicable Labelling of devices... [Pg.194]

Further afield, in 1978 the Japanese National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) started the production of a series of biological and environmental matrix CRMs, certified for a number of trace elements (Okamoto and Fuwa 1985). Recently also the certification of metal species in some materials was reported (Okamoto and Yoshinaga 1999). [Pg.6]

A remarkable level of activity can be seen in China. The National Research Center for CRM (NRCCRM) was founded in 1980 and the certification and accreditation program for CBW RMs started in 1983 by co-operation with many Chinese Institutions. In 1993 around 60 RMs and CRMs were available (Chai Chifang 1993) and in 1999 the availability of about 1000 CRMs was reported, around 30 of them clinical, 100 environmental, 200 geological, and 300 metallic matrix materials (Rong and Min 1999). [Pg.6]
