Endothelial cell seeded

A variety of researches on bio-conjugate (or bio-mimicking) materials have been carried out during the last few years. As seen in Table 1, the aims and scope of many of the researchers are directly connected with clinical applications. For instance, endothelial-cell seeding (or sodding) on the luminal surface of vascular grafts is a widely-known technique [165-169] for improving the blood compatibility of polymetric materials. On the other hand, not a few of researchers are oriented to the exploitation of future possibilities of biomaterials.

Trypsinization of endothelial cells requires technical skill and adequate training and represents the most crucial step for establishing the 4-days/24-wells model in the screening laboratory because endothelial cells are highly sensitive to this manipulation. Hence, to facilitate the transfer of the 4-days/24-wells BBB model to other laboratory the 24-well filter plates were stored at 0 °C for 1 h immediately after endothelial cell seeding in the inserts and finally transferred to -80 °C to freeze the entire system for future shipment and use in another laboratory.

PL A nanofibers scaffold has been studied to lay on PET fibers and to promote endothelial cell seeding and spreading. PEA nanofibers scaffolds are temporary components of the fibrous implantable device. Nanofiber scaffolds should disappear to be replaced by neo-tissue ingrowth. Consequently, the degradation kinetics of these PLA nanofibers scaffolds have to be tuned and linked to the growth rate of endothelial cells and neo-endothelium.
