Electricity generation test system

We specialize immediately as follows The system is deemed sufficiently isolated from the remainder of the universe so as to be totally surrounded by free space. In this event E0 D0 is the applied electric field in free space resulting from a distribution of generating charges placed in confines beyond that space. The disposition and magnitude of these charges remain unaltered when the test system of interest is placed in position. Moreover, now P - 0 outside the system, so that the second integral can be confined to the volume of the test system this is an enormous convenience. Hence, the increment of work now reads... [Pg.494]

Earlier work described static electricity generation during filtration and the oil auto-oxidation due to spark discharges, respectively [74,75], It was considered that there are overlooked factors like hot spots which produce varnish in gas turbine systems. Thus, spark discharges of static electricity have a strong influence on oil oxidation. A new, simple method to test formation of varnish has been proposed [76]. Typical varnish problems are shown in Figs. 8.9 and 8.10. [Pg.274]

A series hybrid drive train was used where a diesel gas turbine drives a generator to charge a battery pack which powers an electric motor. The system is complex, but the car achieves good performance with low emissions and a 400-mile range. Volvo was testing 50-kilowatt stacks from Ballard before the Ford purchase. [Pg.117]

The Rapid Response System (RRS) occupies three trailers an operations trailer, a support trailer, and a utility trailer. The operations trailer contains the process equipment and instrumentation. The support trailer contains spare equipment and supplies. The utility trailer carries electrical generators to allow the system to operate without commercial or host power when needed. For a more complete description of the RRS equipment and operations, see Rapid Response System Test Report (U.S. Army, 2001a). [Pg.108]

In operation, a warn mixture of 90 wt% ammonia in water is drawn into a vessel maintained at a pressure below the saturation pressure of the mixture, which causes boiling. The vapor passes through the turbines, driving electric generators, and is condensed in the cold water heat exchanger. The test results show that the cycle can result in higher efficiency than closed-cycle systems. Further tests at larger scale will be needed to show what system cost benefits will be possible. [Pg.156]

Siemens Westinghouse also produced a 220 kW pressurized SOFC/gas turbine hybrid system, which was installed and tested at the National Fuel Cell Research Center on the campus of the University of Califomia-Irvine (USA). This system was the world s first demonstration of a pressurized SOFC generator coupled with a microturbine generator. The system accumulated nearly 3,400 h of run-time while operating at a calculated net AC electrical efficiency of 53 %. Analysis indicates that with such systems in large MW sizes, an electrical efficiency of 70 % is achievable. [Pg.2013]

The electrical test system will not detect all faults related to aesthetics, annular rings, layer-to-layer registration, etc., nnless they present an effect measnrable by the test system. Further, the electrical measurement employed, type of test fixtnre, test program generation method, and end-nse requirements vary too widely to state broadly that electrical testing will find all the fanlts. [Pg.847]
