In [61], the influence of the nickel(II) concentration on the deposition process, in [62], the influence of potential on deposit morphology, while in [63], the morphology and structure of nickel nuclei as a function of the conditions of electrodeposition were studied. In the latter, the effects of growth rate (affected by the temperature and/or the nickel concentration), bath composition, and deposition time (particularly at low overpotentials) on the morphology of nickel nuclei were analyzed.

Supersaturation has been ob.served to affect contact nucleation. but the mechanism by which this occurs is not clear. There are data that infer a direct relationship between cotrtact nucleation and crystal growth. These data show that the number of nuclei produced by an impact is proportional to the lirtear growth rate of the impacted face. This is true even for citric acid which exhibits an unusual relationship between growth rate and supersaturation. It has been proposed that the known effect of growth rates. whM ate determined primarily by supersaturation. on the surface of the growing crystal provides the link between crystal growth and contact nucleation. 

The other terms are as defined earlier. This equation was used to demonstrate that random growth rate fluctuations may damp out the eflect of the growth rate distribution function, thereby causing the effects of growth rate dispersion to be unobservable in a continuous crystallizer. Moreover, it is shown that an understanding of growth rate dispersion may be a key factor in obtaining realistic models for scale-up. ...

Due to the different structures and energetical situations growth rate of Individual crystal faces is also different. This also holds for the effect of admixtures on the growth rate of crystals and this Is why Individual crystal faces must be considered separately. The effect of growth rate dispersion can lead to different values on individual crystals, however, and this may be one of the reasons why the literature data are scattered and differ from those obtained by measurements in suspension (116, 226].
