Robert L. Lichter, Camille Henry Dreyfus Foundation I just want to elaborate a little bit on some of the discussion in our breakout group. The notion of immediacy of role models has to do with not only the speed of getting people into the higher positions. There is also a need for those in higher positions to have a more immediate relationship with people in the lower positions. It is fine to have women who are presidents of academic institutions and CEOs of corporations, but at the entry levels it is important to have women who are just above the women who are coming in as well. That is the other aspect of immediacy. [Pg.57]

Rational models of decision making view these stages as successive however, in real fields of practice their sequence may change (Marmaras et al. 1992 Klein 1997 Dreyfus 1997) as a function of several factors in the work environment. [Pg.1023]

We would like to thank the Camille and Hemy Dreyfus Foundation for financial support through the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Scholar/Fellow program. We would like to acknowledge the participants of the University of Tulsa Nanotechnology Workshops (also funded by the Dreyfus Foundation during the summers of 2002 2003) who were extremely helpful in the testing of the AFM model. Discussion and interactions with scientist from the NSF EPSCoR sponsored Oklahoma Network for Nanostructure Materials (NanoNet) were greatly appreciated. [Pg.176]

A%) within the typical ion ranges found in human blood plasma. The ANNs simulate the biological neural network. The mathematical model uses ... a large number of parallel connected simple arithmetic units (neurons) that can be defined as nonlinear, parameterized, bounded function, so that the variables this function depends on are called the inputs of the neuron and its value is called the output (Dreyfus, 2005 Marini et al., 2008). [Pg.381]
