FIG. 18-84 Characteristic relationship between thickener unit area and underflow solids concentration (fixed flocciilant dosage and pulp depth). [Pg.1680]

Probit model A mathematical model of dosage and response in which the dependent variable (response) is a probit number that is related through a statistical function directly to a probability. [Pg.2275]

Stomach and intestinal ulcers. 8.3 Side effects Occasionally, headaches may be caused in people who are sensitive to bitter substances. 8 4 Dosage and manner of use Boiling water (ca. 150 ml) is poured over two tea-spoonfuls of the Lea, covered and allowed to draw for 5 10 min, and then passed through a tea strainer. There are three basic terms used in the chlorination process chlorine demand, chlorine dosage and chlorine residual. Chlorine demand is the amount of chlorine which will reduced or consumed in the process of oxidizing impurities in the water. Chlorine dosage is the amount of chlorine fed into the water. Chlorine residual is the amount of chlorine still remaining in water after oxidation takes place. For example, if a water has 2.0 ppm chlorine demand and is fed into the water in a chlorine dosage of 5.0 ppm, the chlorine residual would be 3.0 ppm. [Pg.47]

Although less known than diatomite, these products have been in wide use for many years so that there exists a sound body of applications knowledge upon which to base grade selection, dosage, and procedures. Perlite and Solka-floc have the same availability in bagged, semi-bulk, or bulk formats as diatomite. [Pg.112]

Temperature, pressure, flow rate, and ozone concentration of the ozonecontaining gas being discharged from all the ozone generators. This is the only effective method by which ozone dosage and the ozone production capacity of the ozone generator can be determined. [Pg.494]

Microbiocides. For a general guideline about 100 mg/L of the microbiocide with at least 50 wt% active ingredient should be added to the drilling fluid. Exact dosage and treatment frequency has to be estimated based on the severity of the problem. [Pg.1343]

The entire label of the prescription or nonprescription drug container must be read, including the recommended dosage and warning. [Pg.57]

The older adult is more susceptible to the nephrotoxic effects of the cephalosporins particularly if renal function is already diminished because of age or disease. If renal impairment is present, a lower dosage and monitoring of blood creatinine levels are indicated. Bood creatinine levels greater than 4 mg/dL indicate serious renal impairment. In elderly patients with decreased renal function, a dosage adjustment may be necessary. [Pg.79]

Take the drug exacdy as prescribed by the primary health care provider. Do not increase or decrease die dosage, and do not take any over-the-counter (OTC) drug without first consulting the primary health care provider. Notify the primary health care provider or dentist if the pain is not relieved. [Pg.156]

A patient is prescribed fentanyl (Sublimaze) 50 meg IM 30 minutes before surgery. The nurse has available a vial with a dosage strength of 0.05 mg/1 mL. The nurse calculates the dosage and administers. ... [Pg.179]

If naloxone is given by IV infusion, die primary healdi care provider orders die IV fluid and amount, the drug dosage and die infusion rata Giving the drag by IV infusion requires use of a secondary line or IV piggyback. [Pg.182]

Reviews reasons for the drug and prescribed drug regimen, including drug name, dosage, and frequency of administration. [Pg.252]

Avoid smoking (when applicable). Smoking may make it difficult to adjust the dosage and may worsen breathing problems. [Pg.347]

The patient s age (infants and children require lower dosages, and advanced age may be indicative of decreased renal function, requiring a lower dosage) and... [Pg.360]

Hyperkalemia (increase in potassium in the blood), a serious event, may be seen with the administration of potassium-sparing diuretics. Hyperkalemia is most likely to occur in patients with an inadequate fluid intake and urine output, those with diabetes or renal disease tiie elderly, and those who are severely ill. In patients taking spironolactone, gynecomastia (breast enlargement in tiie male) may occur. This reaction appears to be related to both dosage and duration of therapy. The gynecomastia is usually reversible when therapy is discontinued, but in rare instances, some breast enlargement may remain. [Pg.447]
