Breast enlargement

Hyperkalemia (increase in potassium in the blood), a serious event, may be seen with the administration of potassium-sparing diuretics. Hyperkalemia is most likely to occur in patients with an inadequate fluid intake and urine output, those with diabetes or renal disease tiie elderly, and those who are severely ill. In patients taking spironolactone, gynecomastia (breast enlargement in tiie male) may occur. This reaction appears to be related to both dosage and duration of therapy. The gynecomastia is usually reversible when therapy is discontinued, but in rare instances, some breast enlargement may remain. 

In men, administration of an androgen may result in breast enlargement (gynecomastia), testicular atrophy, inhibition of testicular function, impotence, enlargement of the penis, nausea, jaundice, headache, anxiety, male pattern baldness, acne, and depression. Fluid and electrolyte imbalances, which include sodium, water, chloride, potassium, calcium, and phosphate retention, may also be seen.

Ectopic as well as intrauterine pregnancy may occur in contraceptive failures. Lactation Hormonal contraceptives may interfere with lactation, decreasing both the quantity and the quality of breast milk. A small amount of OC steroids is excreted in breast milk. A few adverse effects on the nursing infant have been reported, including jaundice and breast enlargement. 

GU Gynecomastia and testicular swelling in the male breast enlargement, menstrual irregularity and galactorrhea in the female increased or decreased libido painful ejaculation impotence nocturia urinary frequency. 

Fat redistribution Redistribution/accumulation of body fat, including central obesity, dorsocervical fat enlargement (buffalo hump), peripheral wasting, breast enlargement, and cushingoid appearance have been observed in patients receiving protease inhibitors. 

Adverse effects include flushes, weight gain, mood changes, vaginal dryness, decreased libido, breast enlargement and tenderness and in some patients the prolonged time required for the return of normal ovulatory function. Androgen side-effects like acne and hirsutismus can occur with the 19-nortestosterone derivatives. 

Endocrine effects In the female, ovulation block, infertility, breast enlargement and pseudo-pregnancy lactation. In the male, gynecomstia or changes in libido have been observed. 

Hypersensitivity, alopecia, tinnitus, breast enlargement, photosensitivity Serious Reactions... 

Abnormal hepatic function, including jaundice, hepatitis, and hepatic necrosis alopecia anaphylaxis breast enlargement erythema multiforme peripheral edema and seizures have been reported.
