The Division of Biologies Control becomes an independent entity within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) after a poHo vaccine is linked to about 260 cases of poKo.

It would seem, then, that the carbohydrate portions of glycolipids or glycoproteins, or both, serve a regulatory role in cell division of tissues capable of rapid proliferation. Fucolipids also seem to be involved in these control processes, although no specific biological effect has been suggested for the fucopyranosyl units within these gl yeans. 

Included in the special conference of the Division of Pesticide Chemistry were symposia on Control of Plant Growth, Control of Insect Growth," Control of Pests with Natural Products, and Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering. The first three symposia comprise the three major sections of the book. Additionally, a chapter on The Impact of Biotechnology on Crop Improvement is included.

In 1964 while with Pitman-Moore (now a division of the Dow Chemical Company), Weaver organized and directed the Biohazards Department where he pioneered efforts in the emerging field of biological hazard (environmental) control. 

Kenneth A. Walters, PhD, is director of An-eX Analytical Services Ltd and an honorary lecturer in pharmaceutical chemistry at the Welsh School of Pharmacy. His research interests are biological membrane penetration enhancement and retardation, particularly with respect to skin. He has experience at Fisons Pharmaceuticals, Eastman Pharmaceuticals (a division of Eastman Kodak Company) and Controlled Therapeutics Ltd. (Scotland). Dr. Walters has published many articles and reviews and has co-edited two volumes on skin penetration enhancement and dermal toxicity. He is a charter member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and also a member of the Society of Investigative Dermatology, the Controlled Release Society, the Society of Toxicology and the Society of Cosmetic Scientists.
