Trimethylarsonioribosides have also been synthesized (Fig. 5). Compound 33 was first isolated from a brown alga and was subsequently prepared by addition of methyl iodide to the arsine obtained on reduction of the natural product 17 with borohydride solution (64). Compound 33 has also been prepared by using 2,3-dimercapto-propanol as the reductant, and this procedure was similarly used for the synthesis of compounds 34 to 37 from the respective dimethylated compounds (65). 

Clinical management is supportive and there no known active treatment. Administration of table salt will help precipitate soluble silver as the insoluble silver chloride. British antilewisite (2,3-dimercapto-propanol) has not proven useful. 

Clinical management is supportive. Gastric decontamination should be considered only in the case of massive ingestions. Normal zinc levels in the blood are between 68 and 136pgdl . Chelating agents such as BAL (British Antilewisite 2,3-dimercapto-propanol) or calcium EDTA will enhance removal of zinc, but are not likely indicated unless the unusual case of massive chronic exposure. Hemodialysis and other methods of extracorporeal elimination are not necessary.

A 50.0-mL solution containing Ni2+ and Zn2+ was treated with 25.0 mL of 0.045 2 M EDTA to bind all the metal. The excess unreacted EDTA required 12.4 mL of 0.012 3 M Mg2+ for complete reaction. An excess of the reagent 2,3-dimercapto-l-propanol was then added to displace the EDTA from zinc. Another 29.2 mL of Mg2+ were required for reaction with the liberated EDTA. Calculate the molarity of Ni2+ and Zn2+ in the original solution.
