Different Constructions

According to the corrosion properties of the slurry, filters are most commonly constructed in carbon steel, rubber-lined or stainless-steel qualities. [Pg.346]

For special parts, preference is given to using plastic, for the filter grids and the fdtrate pipes, for example polypropylene. The control and near plates are normally made of high-molecular polyethylene. These parts can optionally also be supphed in other materials, for example steel, stainless steel or cast iron. [Pg.346]

Parts which do not come into contact with the product are made of steel and may also have an appropriate corrosion-resistant paint coating. For hght-duty applications, vacuum drum filters with main components made of plastic are also used. [Pg.346]

Apart from the cost of knowledge acquisition, another disadvantage of rule-based systems is the difficulty of rule-base maintenance. Rule-base maintenance may be required when changes are made to the inspection system, the inspection procedures, or if differing constructions are inspected. The maintenance usually cannot be done by end-users. [Pg.101]

To control air and contaminant movement between zones, different construction, process-related, and ventilation techniques are used. Clean and dirty areas can be separated using solid walls, curtains, or partitions (Fig. 7.109(2). Ventilation techniques used to separate zones include... [Pg.593]

El theory In all materials (plastics, metals, wood, etc.) elementary mechanical theory demonstrates that some shapes resist deformation from external loads. This phenomenon stems from the basic physical fact that deformation in beam or sheet sections depends upon the mathematical product of the modulus of elasticity (E) and the moment of inertia (I), commonly expressed as EL This theory has been applied to many different constructions including sandwich panels. [Pg.635]

Today boiler vessels are usually fabricated from special boiler plate and firebox steels of varying thickness, while their auxiliaries (supplementary equipment) and appurtenances (boiler accessories and instruments, especially those employed for safety reasons) may be produced from any of several different constructional metals, alloys, and other materials, including cast iron, copper alloys, stainless steels, and so forth. Tubes and tube plates may be variously constructed of carbon steel, low-alloy steels, or special alloy steels, with each design providing for particular required levels of thermal and mechanical stress and corrosion resistance. The overall boiler plant system may have a life expectancy in excess of 50 to 60 years, although individual components may need to be replaced periodically during this period. [Pg.3]

Starodub et al. [98] studied different constructions and biomedical applications of immunosensors based on fiberoptic and enhanced CL. They discussed three different approaches of immobilization of one of the immunocomponents on the fiberoptic surface. Good results could be achieved by the use of a special membrane closely connected to the fiberoptic, with sensitivities compared to that obtained by the ELISA method but with a faster rate of analysis. The sensor was... [Pg.586]

As a follow-up to previous work, we measured heat release rate for a series of 12 wall assemblies of four different constructions, using an improved gas sample analysis system and computer data acquisition. [Pg.412]

The platform which can be of a completely different construction to the primary upholstery and may be tested under a proposed modification to the regulations which include testing "invisible" fabrics to Source No.l over a PU foam resisting Source 5 to the 1988 regulation. [Pg.512]

Bowl-shaped coordination compounds have been assembled spontaneously from 10 small components, such as six (en)Pd2+ units and four 2,4,6-tri(3-pyridinyl)triazene moieties the overall structure approaches 3oA <00JA2665>. A different construct was derived from the 4-pyridinyl isomer and Pt(bpy)2+ and shown to facilitate self-assembly within the coordination... [Pg.387]

We are aware of two studies that suggest the presence of taxa in the domain of anxiety and two studies that failed to find anxiety taxa. What can be learned from this discrepancy One obvious consideration is that anxiety pathology is heterogeneous and these four studies examined different constructs. Perhaps some forms of anxiety pathology are taxonic, while others are not. Another consideration is that if anxiety taxa exist, they may not correspond neatly to our current conceptions of anxiety disorders and anxi-... [Pg.169]

Regardless of whether the fabric structure is woven or knitted, accurate characterization of construction parameters is necessary to evaluate test results for other properties and to explain differences noted when comparing test data from fabrics of different constructions. [Pg.458]

The temperature range of 40°-460° K has been achieved with two probes of different constructions. The probe with a temperature range of 100°-460° K used nitrogen gas as the coolant. The low temperature probe, connected through a liquid helium transfer line to a liquid helium Dewar flask, used helium as coolant. [Pg.256]

The first crystal structure of a bacterial serine protease to be solved—subtilisin, from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens—revealed an enzyme of apparently totally different construction from the mammalian serine proteases (Figure 1.17). This was not unexpected, since there is no sequence homology between them. But closer examination shows that they are functionally identical in terms of substrate binding and catalysis. Subtilisin has the same catalytic triad, the same system of hydrogen bonds for binding the carbonyl oxygen and the acetamido NH of the substrate, and the same series of subsites for binding the acyl portion of... [Pg.25]

The basis for estimating the purchase cost of the heat exchangers was the area available for heat transfer. Factors were then applied to allow for different construction materials, operating pressures and tube dimensions. [Pg.100]
