Di ammonium

In cases of still higher levels of BOD an additional supply of biomass may become essential, and this can be easily obtained from cowdung or municipal waste. To supplement biomass growth, nutrients such as urea and di-ammonium phosphate may be added. [Pg.415]

One of the commercial methods for production of lysine consists of a two-stage process using two species of bacteria. The carbon sources for production of amino acids are corn, potato starch, molasses, and whey. If starch is used, it must be hydrolysed to glucose to achieve higher yield. Escherichia coli is grown in a medium consisting of glycerol, corn-steep liquor and di-ammonium phosphate under aerobic conditions, with temperature and pH controlled. [Pg.8]

Pruszkowska et al. [135] described a simple and direct method for the determination of cadmium in coastal water utilizing a platform graphite furnace and Zeeman background correction. The furnace conditions are summarised in Table 5.1. These workers obtained a detection limit of 0.013 pg/1 in 12 pi samples, or about 0.16 pg cadmium in the coastal seawater sample. The characteristic integrated amount was 0.35 pg cadmium per 0.0044 A s. A matrix modifier containing di-ammonium hydrogen phosphate and nitric acid was used. Concentrations of cadmium in coastal seawater were calculated directly from a calibration curve. Standards contained sodium chloride and the same matrix modifier as the samples. No interference from the matrix was observed. [Pg.148]

The three operation variables, i.e., the back-flow (ageing) time after reaction-precipitation inside the SCISR, the pH of the reaction mixture, and the dripping rate of the di-ammonium phosphate solution into the reaction mixture exhibit influences on both the Ca/P mole ratio and the appearance of particles in the product. [Pg.326]

The results of the characterization of the product synthesized with Fourier transformation infra-red spectrophotometer (FTIR), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron mirror microscope (SEM) and the transmission electron mirror microscope (TEM) illustrate that the product synthesized by the process of double decomposition-precipitation with calcium nitrate and di-ammonium phosphate as the reactants in the SCISR consists of well dispersed particles of about 15 nm in diameter and 50-70 nm long, having a very regular shape and appearance and is confirmed to be hydroxylapatite. [Pg.327]

By starting with a purer phosphoric acid, ammonium salts may be obtained in a purer state. If ammonia gas is passed into 75 per cent, phosphoric acid a reaction takes place with great heat evolution, and on cooling acid ammonium phosphate, (NH4)H2P04, crystallises in the anhydrous state. Further saturation with ammonia yields a mixture of the mono- and di-ammonium salts, and on further addition of concentrated ammonia solution, or by carrying out the whole reaction in... [Pg.227]

Colloidal ferric phosphate is obtained by dissolving ferric phosphate in ammoniacal di-ammonium hydrogen phosphate and dialysing the solution until all electrolytes have been washed away. The colloidal solution thus obtained is tasteless and without action on litmus. Addition of electrolytes, such as alkali chlorides, effects its gelatmisation. [Pg.187]

Ammonium phosphates (mono- and di-ammonium phosphates) are particularly important in the USA. Table 2.1-6 gives the world production for ammonium phosphate fertilizers by region. [Pg.189]

In NaHPOa(NH2) there are zwitterions H3N.PO3 , (d), analogous to the isoelectronic sulphamic acid, (e), H3N. SOJ (p. 586). The N-H-0 bonds link the ions into a 3-dimensional framework, in the interstices of which are located the Na ions. Replacement of one 0 by S in PO3NH2" gives the ion [P02S(NH2)] in which the bond lengths shown at (f) come from a study of the di-ammonium salt. There are similar bond lengths in the diamidothiophosphate ion, studied in NH4 [P0S(NH2)2]. ... [Pg.692]

Other synthesis reactions include hydrothermal techniques, hydrolysis of other calcium phosphates (Monma and Kayima 1987) and sol-gel methods (Masuda et al. 1990). Hydrothermal synthesis is the second most common method and, in comparison to the wet chemical method, is able to produce well-crystallized, compositionally homogeneous apatite (Yoshimura and Suda 1994). In this process, a mixture of calcium carbonate and di-ammonium hydrogen phosphate is subjected to 12,000 psi and heated to 275°C (Roy and Linnehan 1974). A high crystallinity, carbonate substituted HAp is produced by this method. Calcium phosphates that have been hydrolysed to HAp include octacalcium phosphate (Graham and Brown 1996), tricalcium phosphate (Nakahira et al. 1999), and brushite (Monma and Kayima 1987, Fulmer and Brown 1998, Manjubala et al. 2001). The chemical formulas of these and other inorganic compounds are provided in Appendix 1. [Pg.637]
