Deterrence, use

Deterrents are used to coat the powder, reducing the initial bum rate, and lowering the burn temperature. Deterrents used include dinitrotoluenes, ethyl centralite, methyl centralite, and phthalates. Inorganic additives such as earth metal salts are added as flash suppressants, and opacifiers such as carbon black can be added to increase the reproducibility of the burn rate [34], Note that several of the listed additive chemicals serve multiple purposes, as summarized in Table 5. Strike ranked it 3 in the Top Ten from the first edition because Strike didn t think people would bite at the idea of using such an expensive catalyst as PdCl2. Street chemists are often tightassed when that is the last thing they should be when it comes to production. But this has not been the case with this procedure as Strike has happily found out. White Chocolate. There is at present no standard of identity in the United States for white chocolate. Virtually all current uses of the term white chocolate do not meet the standards for chocolate, which prescribes the presence of ground cacao nibs. This restrictive requirement has acted as a practical deterrent to companies developing and marketing white chocolate-type products in the United States. When such products have been introduced and marketed in the United States, companies have had to label them with fanciful names to avoid the standardized labeling issues. Soybean Protein Isolates. Soybean protein isolates, having a protein content of >90 wt%, are the only vegetable proteins that are widely used in imitation dairy products (1). Most isolates are derived from isoelectric precipitation, so that the soybean protein isolates have properties that are similar to those of casein. They are insoluble at thek isoelectric point, have a relatively high proportion of hydrophobic amino acid residues, and are calcium-sensitive. They differ from casein in that they are heat-denaturable and thus heat-labile. The proteins have relatively good nutritional properties and have been increasingly used as a principal source of protein. A main deterrent to use has been the beany flavor associated with the product. Use is expected to increase in part because of lower cost as compared to caseinates.
