Design report—written preparation

The results of the design project should be presented in a written report. Interim written and oral reports help students stay on track. Reporting is preparation for future employment opportunities. [Pg.817]

In this chapter, readers have been presented with a template and associated milestones that must be completed, for guidance in the preparation of the written design report. No exercises are included because the template is intended to be used by design teams when writing their written reports. [Pg.779]

With regards to the design report itself, it was observed that additional student exposure to design writings was needed. This took the form of example report sections, written by the second author, that were shared with the students. While these helped, they did not alleviate the experience shortfall or the students apprehension with preparing the design report. New possibilities will be explored before the course is offered again. [Pg.249]

There should be an oral presentation towards the end of the semester to the management (which is your classmates, the professor, and the invitees) on your business plan for a proposed new product on the innovative product idea, on market and technology analysis, on the financial and environmental analysis, and on your recommended action. Be prepared to answer searching questions from your management, and to hear constructive comments intended to improve your research, your analysis, your recommendation, and your presentation skills. If time permits, it would be useful to take all the comments and constructive suggestions into consideration, and make a second oral presentation. The product design project concludes with the submission of a written report, which would be in parallel with the traditional process design project. [Pg.339]

The rhenium(III) halides, with Cl, Br, and I are all well established. All three can be prepared by a variety of methods and all have been shown to have structures built of Re units of D3 symmetry with Re=Re double bonds. The structure of the crystalline bromide was only recently reported.6 Although these halides are often designated as ReX3, especially in older literature, they should be written as ReA, since only on this basis does their chemistry make sense. [Pg.979]

A QA system takes such measures as confirming that designated preparation and QA procedures are being followed by staff at all levels. Such evaluation should be carried out periodically and should result in a written report containing recommendations for action. [Pg.67]

Over the last 32 years Perfetti has made over 60 presentations and published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals in the areas of biochemistry, tobacco and smoke chemistry, sensory perception, mathematics, and innovation. During his career at RJRT he prepared more than 250 formal company research reports. He has written chapters for two books and has developed and presented five courses in the areas of cigarette design and innovation. Dr. Perfetti has 38 U.S. patents and hundreds of foreign patents. [Pg.1797]

To avoid duplicate work effort, it is recommended that design teams prepare all of the figures and tables for their written reports in such a way that they are displayed properly by an overhead projector or computer projection software. This requires that the figures and tables be prepared with sufficiently large fonts and the information be placed less compactly than when an oral presentation is not required. [Pg.777]

All joints, both small scale and scaled up, have been manufactured and tested. Tests have included determination of load-displacement response of joints and their constituents, bend strength, fracture toughness, and failure loads under mixed mode conditions. An engineering joint assessment and design has been formulated, verified, and a PC computer code using the model has been written. The final report is in preparation for submittal in July, 1990. [Pg.258]

This section of the report is the most important individual section. The objective of the abstract is to provide the reader with a concise, overall statement of the high points of the report. Normally, the abstract should be no more than one written page. More than any other section of the report, the abstract should be prepared in consideration of the reader and the piupose of the own report. A reasonable assessment of the abstract will be, therefore, to read it from the reader s point of view and determine if is sufficiently clear and concise and conveys the appropriate information on the purpose, scope, and extent of the report. A good abstract will include a brief statement of the objectives of the study, experiment, or design, and results in the form on concise conclusions and/or recommendations for further work. Often, other information, such as important assumptions, alternatives analyzed, or procediues will be included depending on the purpose of the report and the reader s profile. [Pg.443]

All crawler, truck, or locomotive cranes in use shall meet the applicable requirements for design, inspection, construction, testing, maintenance and operation as prescribed in the ANSI B30.5-1968, Safety Code for Crawler, Locomotive and Truck Cranes. However, the written, dated, and signed inspection reports and records of the monthly inspection of critical items prescribed in section 5-2.1.5 of the ANSI B30.5-1968 standard are not required. Instead, the employer shall prepare a certification record which includes the date the crane items were inspected the signature of the person who inspected the crane items and a serial number. [Pg.1307]
