Clonogenic proliferative cells were isolated from adult human dental pulp. These dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) produced sporadic densely calcified nodules. In immuno-compomised mice, DPSCs generated a dentin-hke structure lined with human odontoblastlike cells surrounding a pulp-like interstitial tissue. The DPSCs may be used for dentinal repair and, after proliferation ex vivo, for the fabrication of a viable dental implant. [Pg.49]

Other studies have proposed coculturing cells in bioactive PA scaffolds. For example, dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) and stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED) have been combined within PAs and investigated as a tissue-engineered system for enhancing hard and soft dental tissue regeneration. In this study, cells were cultured for up to 28 days with and without... [Pg.3456]

Concerning dental tissues, the odontogenic differentiation of human dental pulp stem cells is demonstrated on nanofibrous PLA scaffolds, both in vitro and (following in vitro culture for two weeks in presence of inductive supplements) in vivo by dentin sialoprotein immunoistochemical staining performed two months post-implantation.
