Delayed control

SPC does require statistical quantities of product and automated data tracking. The best processes for SPC are those which are used to make large quantities of inexpensive parts. SPC is also difficult to apply to processes where the number of independent variables is large. Automated data acquisition is a must for SPC, but this is becoming inexpensive and common in the workplace. SPC is also a delayed control method. Many defective parts may be made before SPC corrects the process. The longer it takes to evaluate the results of the process, the more delay in the ability to react to process changes. Another important requirement of SPC is attention to detail on the part of the operator and/or process engineer. No battery of QC tests will detect every variation either in materials and process or in final quality. [Pg.450]

Any kind of delay, delay control or intra-statement delay, specified in a procedural assignment (blocking or non-blocking) is ignored by a synthesis system. This can potentially lead to a functional mismatch between the design model and its synthesized netlist. [Pg.20]

Softgel delivery systems can also incorporate phospholipids or polymers or natural gums to entrap the drug active in the gelatin layer with an outer coating to give desired delayed/controlled-release effects. [Pg.23]

Active combustion control in a swirl-stabilized combustor is being investigated to reduce combustion instabilities and to control mixing in order to enhance certain key performance metrics (pattern factor, emissions, and volumetric release). For instability control, it has been demonstrated that experimental model-based controllers can provide substantially greater reductions in pressure oscillations relative to time-delay controllers. Phase-locked CH measurements are presented to provide improved understanding of the heat-release dynamics. It has also been shown that active modulation of dilution air jets can be utilized to control the heat-release and temperature distributions. [Pg.157]

Active control studies on a swirl-stabilized spray combustor are presented. Significant improvements with model-based control over traditional time-delay control is demonstrated in the present work. These improvements are particularly noted with acoustic modulation. Future work in this area is directed toward using a proportional drive spray injector where the full amplitude/phase information from the model-based controller can be exploited. [Pg.167]

Highly viscous liquid can cause the control valve plug to get stuck up or will not move properly—thus delaying control action. More force will be required here to operate the valve and hence choose the actuator accordingly. [Pg.250]
