DCF test

Three types of combushon test facility are used to evaluate the combushon efficiencies of ducted rockets direct-connect flow (DCF) test, semi-freejet (SFJ) test, and freejet (FJ) test, as shown in Fig. 15.13. Pressurized heated air or cooled air is supplied to the DCF, SFJ, and FJ test facilihes. The pressure and temperature of the airflow are adjusted by means of an air control system to simulate the air condihons during flight of the ducted rocket projechle. In the case of the DCF test, the airflow is supplied to the ramburner from a pressurized air tank through a directly connected pipe. No air-intakes are used in the DCF test. Thus, the pressure and temperature of the air in the ramburner are as directly supplied from the pressurized air tank. No supersonic flow or shock waves are formed during the supply of air to the ramburner. Once the economic analysis has been completed, the project should be analyzed for unexpected as well as expected impacts on the economics. This is usually done through a set of what if calculations that test the project s sensitivity to missed estimates and changing economic environment. As a minimum, the DCF rate of return should be calculated for 10% variations in capital, operating expenses, and sales volume and priee. 

Kroll et al. [55] tested interferences of 24 NMs in four common in vitro assays for ROS production (DCF-DA), cell viability (MTT assay, LDH release) and cytokine production. The results varied depending on the assay system used, the NMs tested, as well as the NM concentration applied. In all cases, except carbon black, the interferences could be prevented by altering assay protocols and lowering particle concentrations. 

Generally, the DCF system has been considered as a pilot plant for test production and research tool to understand reaction kinetics due to its fast reaction rate, easier manipulation over the system, and easy scale-up for mass production. The applications for DCF systems are investigated further than mass industrial and scientific usages. 

ADA mBNA activity was measured by vitro translation of (8) polysomal RNA in a rabbit reticulocyte system. The amount of ADA protein synthesized was determined by immunoprecipitation and gel electrophoresis. One cell line tested, 4-3-15, which has a 181-fold increase in ADA activity had a corresponding 171-fold increase in mRNA activity as compared to the dCF-sensitive parental cell line. 

The strategy should then be further tested by comparing the investment costs of alternative development plans with quantitative tools such as discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis.
