Dampness elimination

Fu Ling and Deng Xin Cao leach out dampness, eliminating phlegm in an indirect way. [Pg.246]

The finite element results obtained for various values of (3 are compared with the analytical solution in Figure 2.27. As can be seen using a value of /3 = 0.5 a stable numerical solution is obtained. However, this solution is over-damped and inaccurate. Therefore the main problem is to find a value of upwinding parameter that eliminates oscillations without generating over-damped results. To illustrate this concept let us consider the following convection-diffusion equation... [Pg.61]

Improved rotor dynamic stability. The active magnetic bearing s ability to vary stiffness and damping permits rotation about the rotor s inertial axis, eliminating vibration and noise. [Pg.333]

The procedure given is applicable to many other aulfonyl chlorides as well (see Table I). Solid sulfonyl chlorides are added as such. When heavy frothing occurs in the reduction (e.g., with p-nitrobenzenesulfonyl chloride), addition of 50 ml. of chloroform to the reaction mixture will eliminate the foam without reducing the final yield. When the sulfonyl chlorides were prepared according to Meerwein and co-workers, it was found advantageous to use the crude, damp sulfonyl chlorides, since these are more easily reduced than the dried or recrystallized materials. [Pg.89]

Careful study of various fluids in tubes of different sizes has indicated that laminar flow in a tube persists up to a point where the value of the Reynolds number (NRt = DVp/n) is about 2000, and turbulent flow occurs when NRe is greater than about 4000, with a transition region in between. Actually, unstable flow (turbulence) occurs when disturbances to the flow are amplified, whereas laminar flow occurs when these disturbances are damped out. Because turbulent flow cannot occur unless there are disturbances, studies have been conducted on systems in which extreme care has been taken to eliminate any disturbances due to irregularities in the boundary surfaces, sudden changes in direction, vibrations, etc. Under these conditions, it has been possible to sustain laminar flow in a tube to a Reynolds number of the order of 100,000 or more. However, under all but the most unusual conditions there are sufficient natural disturbances in all practical systems that turbulence begins in a pipe at a Reynolds number of about 2000. [Pg.150]

One problem with the above control strategy is that when the tank fails there is a rapid change in the flow rate entering the main treatment plant. Modify the program so that the flow rate leaving the tank is controlled such that the flow is proportional to the depth of liquid in the tank. The result of this should be that although oscillations in the flow rate are damped and not eliminated entirely, the risk of complete and sudden failure is reduced. [Pg.562]

The women announced that we would eliminate breakfast and lunch to make better time. It was their decision since they were doing the cooking it was too much of a chore to make a fire in the damp Amazonian forest. [Pg.38]

Elimination of dll between this equation and Eq. (33) above gives the damping group requirement for the condition of a totally immobile interface ... [Pg.38]

The purpose of treatment is not only to eliminate pathogenic factors, but also to strengthen the body s resistance, to maintain and improve the physical condition and constitution, to harmonize the Yin, Yang, Qi and blood, to re-establish the balance of the body, and to achieve a healthy mind and body. For example, to treat a bacterial infection, which often infers a damp-heat syndrome in TCM differentiation, the aim of treatment is not to kill the bacteria, but to eliminate damp-heat, promote the function of the Spleen and fortify the body s resistance, thereby restoring health. [Pg.18]

In the course of chronic disease, or after surgical operations, the Qi and blood are weakened. Dampness, phlegm and food tend to accumulate in the body because the Qi is too weak to eliminate them. Treatment therefore needs to tonify the Qi and promote digestion, eliminating any accumulation of dampness, phlegm or food. [Pg.19]

Lastly, eliminating the stagnation of blood, food, dampness and phlegm may also assist the movement of the Qi and reduce Qi stagnation. [Pg.25]

Activate the Qi movement, accelerate water metabolism and eliminate dampness. [Pg.26]

Use aromatic herbs which have a unique dispersing and transforming action to penetrate the dampness in the Upper- and Middle-Jiao and eliminate it. [Pg.26]

In herbal treatment, it is necessary to tonify the Kidney and Spleen-Qi in order to nourish the Yin of the Stomach and the Lung. At the same time, herbs that eliminate dampness or damp-heat should also be used. [Pg.33]

These three herbs are pungent and warm, and enter the Lung and Spleen meridians. They can expel wind-cold in the superficial region of the body as well as eliminate dampness, which often affects the body in a humid climate or is due to cold drinks. They can be selected as chief herbs separately or in groups in a formula. [Pg.40]

Dampness in the meridians add Qin Jiao [Gentianae macrophyllae radix) to assist Qiang Huo [Notopterygii rhizoma) to eliminate wind-damp-cold. [Pg.44]

Hou Po is bitter and warm, and can effectively descend the Qi in the Lung, Stomach and intestines to reduce fullness, dry dampness and eliminate phlegm. [Pg.59]

These three herbs are bitter and cold, and all enter the Heart meridian. They can clear the heat from the Heart and treat restlessness, warmth in the chest and bitterness in the mouth. Moreover, they can lead the heat from the Heart downward and eliminate the heat by increasing urination. Furthermore, these herbs can clear heat in the Small Intestine directly, and treat dark and scanty urine and painful and urgent urination due to damp-heat. [Pg.93]

When these three herbs are used together they may effectively and strongly drain fire-toxin and eliminate dampness. [Pg.94]

Treatment principle Drain fire from the Liver and Gall Bladder and eliminate damp-heat in the Lower-Jiao... [Pg.96]

Zhi Zi enters the San Jiao meridian and is often used to reduce the fire as it can leach the heat out of the body by increasing urination. Due to the same function, it is also very useful for eliminating damp-heat in the Lower-Jiao. Thus Zhi Zi is often chosen to reduce fire as well as eliminate dampness. [Pg.96]

The very bitter and cold Long Dan Cao is used as chief because it can either drain the fire from the Liver or eliminate the damp-heat from the Lower-Jiao. [Pg.98]

Ze Xie, Mu Tong and Che Qian Zi are used as assistants to strengthen the function of Long Dan Cao to increase urination and eliminate dampness. [Pg.98]

Meanwhile, in the process of clearing heat from the Liver and eliminating dampness, it is also important to strengthen the Yin and promote blood circulation, spread the Liver-Qi and protect the Stomach, as all of them can be disturbed by intense heat and by those very cold herbs. [Pg.98]

Treatment principle Promote Qi movement in the San Jiao separate and eliminate damp and heat... [Pg.103]
