Firing reducing

Disturbance may influence the allelochemlcal environment in various ways. Living biomass is reduced, and fire reduces or eliminates litter and humus layers as well. Hence we should expect the total production of allelochemlcals to be lowered following disturbance. As succession proceeds and total biomass and litter layers rebuild.

The injection of a vasoconstrictor, which causes an increase in mean arterial blood pressure, results in activation of the baroreceptors and increased neural input to the cardiovascular centers in the medulla oblongata. The reflex compensation for the drug-induced hypertension includes an increase in parasympathetic nerve activity and a decrease in sympathetic nerve activity. This combined alteration in neural firing reduces cardiac rate and force and the tone of vascular smooth muscle. As a consequence of the altered neural control of both the heart and the blood vessels, the rise in blood pressure induced by the drug is opposed and blunted.

To date, the largest driving force for full oxy/fuel conversions has been to reduce particulate emissions. This may surprise many who consider NOx to be the primary reason for converting to oxy/fuel firing. Reduced NOx emissions and fuel savings are commonly cited as secondary benefits.4 It is interesting to note that capital reduction was also an important factor in making a positive decision for oxy/fuel conversion.
