Identification, assessment, transition and curriculum access are key management issues which are high priority. [Pg.83]

It is essential that all data generated and any other records or samples (if possible) are retained so that they are available for inspection at a later date. This means that there must be a secure and properly controlled archive, with an archivist to maintain it. The archive will contain a copy of the Study Plan, quality assurance reports, records of staff including their curriculum vitae (CV) and training records. Access to the archive has to be strictly controlled, and any additions to or withdrawals from the archive must be logged (see also electronic records in Section 9.2.1.8). Such removal or additions can only be undertaken by stated personnel. [Pg.225]

Participants in the Senior Acquisition Course take the ten-month JCAF curriculum plus two required elective courses dealing with acquisition policy issues. Services and agencies select students. The CASPiE curriculum exposes students to a cross section of the scientific research experience students in a traditional undergraduate laboratory do not have this kind of access and often fail to understand what science is like before choosing to leave the field altogether. The integrated and connected approach of teaching students the science content and the process of science simultaneously provide unique access and unparalleled benefits to the students who participate. [Pg.204]

Practice in Education (CASPiE) program in Chapter 10. These modules provide first- and second-year students with access to research experiences as part of the mainstream general and organic chemistry curriculum create a collaborative research group environment for students in the laboratory provide access to advanced instrumentation for all members of the collaborative to be used for undergraduate research experiences and create a research experience that is engaging for women and for ethnic minorities and appropriate for use at various types of institutions, including those with diverse populations. [Pg.302]

In many respects, Epstein is a consummate activist in science, with a curriculum vitae that lists press releases, membership in public interest organizations, media interviews, and congressional and agency testimony, in addition to more than 250 scientific publications (http //www,preventcancer.com/curriculum.pdf, accessed August 8, 2003). [Pg.173]

Edwin Lightfoot Of course, but it ultimately has to be packaged in such a way that the students have access to the information available without a great deal of detailed study. Understanding orders of magnitude is clearly important. We talk about all the topics that must be in the curriculum, but there s no room for the kind of detail that experts feel is necessary. [Pg.192]

Because of the high cost of setting up new pulse-radiolysis facilities, there is a need for the existing facilities to be made more available to the wider chemistry community through expanded collaboration with radiation chemists who have access to them. There is also a need to increase the awareness of the wider chemistry community of the achievements and potential of radiation-chemical methods in general chemistry such awareness is likely to develop only by the introduction of radiation chemistry into the chemistry curriculum in higher education. [Pg.629]

In a recent study, students manipulation of physical models was compared to their use of a technology-mediated modeling tool called Chemation [13]. The computer visuaUzation tool described in the study helped students to model dynamic aspects of microscopic representations, since it allowed a build-up of frame-by-frame animations. Students had access to a palette of 21 atoms they could manipulate electronically. Sections of the curriculum that were studied included properties of substances, pure substances and mixtures, chemical reactions. [Pg.266]
