Creating a project

Previous chapters have advocated using projects as a basis for development, in order to gain the comprehensive opportunities for development that come from seeing a project through from beginning to end. This chapter describes the process of identifying an actual project that you could use for this purpose. It deals in turn with  [Pg.87]

Many readers, who are not in a position to set up a specied development project, or who do not wish to do so, will be using this book simply as an aid to learning from their experience of everyday management tasks. You should nevertheless find this chapter relevant to developing your creative ability to stent up any new venture - a normal part of the management process if you are not to remain trapped in routine. [Pg.87]

There are two aspects to creating a suitable developmental project. One is to do with starting up a new project, which is the subject of the present chapter. The second is to build features into your project that avIU enhance its developmental potential. That is the subject of Chapter 5. [Pg.87]

One approach to finding a developmental project would be adopt one that you have to do anyhow as part of your job. [Pg.87]

Perhaps a project that is currently low on your list of priorities may be suitable. In which case it is simply a matter of bringing it forward and tackling it now. On the other hand it may be the case that you have nothing that you feel is suitable on your present agenda. In which case you will need to Identify a project from scratch. [Pg.88]

The parts available in the database and the parts that can be downloaded from the Activeparts web site do not contain PSpice models, so we cannot use these parts to run a simulation. When you create a project, you should select either the Schematic or PC Board Wizard option. Run Capture CIS and then select File, New, and then Project to create a new project ... [Pg.555]

It is a mistake to think of the process of creating a project in linear terms first you have the idea, then you work out the idea in terms that can be actioned, then you plan the implementation stage, and so on. The creative process is usually a fairly jumbled one, with steps in the seeming logical sequence occurring simultaneously or In reverse order, and many iterations between steps. [Pg.90]

In the application of the ILDM method to reactive flow problems, physical processes (e.g., transport) are considered as a disturbance to the chemical reaction system. These disturbances may perturb the system within, or out of the manifold. Only the time-scale of the perturbation is important rather than its size, which may be very large. If the time-scale of the disturbance is of the same order as that along the slow manifold, then the components of the perturbation in the fast subspace will have a negligible effect since the chemistry will relax them back to the manifold. The components in the slow subspace will directly couple with the slow chemistry and, therefore, move the state within the manifold. Therefore, the basic idea for flow systems is to create a projection operator P, which projects any physical perturbation onto a perturbation within the manifold. This means that interaction between the physical processes and the slow time-scale chemistry can be represented, but other processes can be neglected since they are equilibrated by the chemistry in a short time. The nature of the projection operator P will depend on the local characteristics of the manifold. [Pg.370]

WSRC uses the RSIP to manage and track improvement items that are safety related, as well as nonsafety related. For each proposed improvement the Strategic Programs Department creates a Project Control Plan (PCP) that summarizes the project scope, priority, budget, schedule, and manpower requirements. The PCP contains the contractor s evaluation of the minimum expenditure of resources and the overall significance of the project. The PCP provides a detailed compilation of information relative to the improvements that technically justifies the improvements. [Pg.61]
