Another method that allows enantioselective synthesis of half-sandwich complexes with a chiral metal centre is to replace the hgand with a chiral Cp- equivalent. Such... [Pg.72]

A problem obviously exists in trying to characterise anomalies in concrete due to the limitations of the individual techniques. Even a simple problem such as measurement of concrete thickness can result in misleading data if complementary measurements are not made In Fig. 7 and 8 the results of Impact Echo and SASW on concrete slabs are shown. The lE-result indicates a reflecting boundary at a depth corresponding to a frequency of transient stress wave reflection of 5.2 KHz. This is equivalent to a depth of 530 mm for a compression wave speed (Cp) of 3000 m/s, or 706 mm if Cp = 4000 m/s. Does the reflection come from a crack, void or back-side of a wall, and what is the true Cp ... [Pg.1004]

The 4,4 -MDA is sold commercially with a diamine assay of 98 —99%. The major impurity is the 2,4 -MDA isomer, which can be present in amounts up to 3%. PMDA products are normally defined by hydrogen equivalent weight and viscosity. Typical products exhibit a 50 hydrogen equivalent weight and a viscosity of 80 140 mPa-s(=cP) at 70°C. PMDA products normally contain, in addition to the isomers and oligomers of MDA, small amounts of aniline, water, chlorides, and various alkylated amines. AH MDA products should be stored in sealed containers in a cool dry area. [Pg.250]

CyclooctatetraenylCompounds. Sandwich-type complexes of cyclooctatetraene (COT), CgH g, are well known. The chemistry of thorium—COT complexes is similar to that of its Cp analogues in steric number and electronic configurations. Thorocene [12702-09-9], COT2Th, (16), the simplest of the COT derivatives, has been prepared by the interaction of ThCl [10026-08-1] and two equivalents of K CgHg. Thorocene derivatives with alkyl-, sdyl-, and aryl-substituted COT ligands have also been described. These compounds are thermally stable, air-sensitive, and appear to have substantial ionic character. [Pg.42]

The iacrease ia reactivity of coordinated N2 has been assumed to be associated with iacreased bond length and decreased stretching frequency. A labeling study has shown that this is an oversimplification. In the protonolysis of [Cp 22 (N2)]2 2 hydraziae produced comes equally from terminal and bridging N2. An iatermediate, such as [86165-22-2] was proposed where the bridging and terminal N2 have become equivalent. [Pg.440]

The Stille coupling of an aryl triflate normally calls for the addition of at least one equivalent of LiCl. Presumably, the transmetallation is facilitated by replacing triflate with CP at the palladium intermediate generated from oxidative addition. As Stille demonstrated in 1988, 4-quinolinyl triflate 100 was coupled with phenylstannane 101 in the presence of Pd(Ph3P)4 and LiCl in refluxing 1,4-dioxane to furnish biaryl 102, which was used as an intermediate for the first total synthesis of antibiotic amphimedine (88JA4051). [Pg.17]

When details are given they should be checked, if only by comparison with equivalent wind speeds derived from first principles, to ensure that they are reasonable. Depending on the specified requirements, the wind speeds may or may not utilize gust wind speeds as in CPS (3) or mean hourly wind speeds, v, with applied gust factors. [Pg.17]

For routine separations, there are about a dozen useful phases for capillary columns. The best general-purpose columns are the dimethylpolysiloxane (DB-1 or equivalent) and the 5% phenyl, 95% dimethylpolysiloxane (DB-5 or equivalent). These relatively nonpolar columns are recommended because they provide adequate resolution and are less prone to bleed than the more polar phases. If a DB-1, DB-5, or equivalent capillary column does not give the necessary resolution, try a more polar phase such as DB-23, CP-Sil88, or Carbowax 20M, providing the maximum operating temperature of the column is high enough for the sample of interest. See Appendix 3 for fused silica capillary columns from various suppliers. [Pg.173]

Two commonly used synthetic methodologies for the synthesis of transition metal complexes with substituted cyclopentadienyl ligands are important. One is based on the functionalization at the ring periphery of Cp or Cp metal complexes and the other consists of the classical reaction of a suitable substituted cyclopentadienyl anion equivalent and a transition metal halide or carbonyl complex. However, a third strategy of creating a specifically substituted cyclopentadienyl ligand from smaller carbon units such as alkylidynes and alkynes within the coordination sphere is emerging and will probably find wider application [22]. [Pg.101]

The equivalent function of the degree of conversion is encountered in the cross-linking of diene polymers discussed below. It is plotted in Fig. 73 in relation to the latter problem. For present purposes it is necessary merely to replace the ordinate in Fig. 73 with p/Cp. Regardless of the absolute magnitude of the branching transfer constant, the relative amount of branching must increase rapidly with conversion. [Pg.385]
