Cooperative team

Selling and buying are truly cooperative team efforts and, as with any team, you must have a leader—the man who calls the signals and directs the team effort. With the buyer this is the purchasing agent and with the seller it is the sales organization.

The cooperative team has also established a common FMEA (Failure Mode Evaluation and Analysis) system using the power converter FMEA from Caterpillar as a template, and expanding this approach to define a preliminary HazOps analysis to be conducted in the future. 

Outcome variables constitute the results of the team s performance. We identified four different outcome variables that have been the focus of existing research studies on team performance benefits to individual team members, cross-functional cooperation, team efficiency, and team effectiveness. 

Maintenance and operations Maintenance and operations wUl become integrated, and function as a supportive team through improved planning, scheduling, and cooperative team-based improvement efforts. Operations wUl be viewed as an important internal customer. 

The collective term lO Mindset includes people s relation and attitude towards new work modes, new technology and their team competences. In addition to individual competence and attimdes on cooperation, team competence also implies how the teams are working together. 

Tuomela Miller (1988) introduced a notion of We-Intention to describe cognitive mechanism in a cooperating team as follows. 

Beliefs like (2) and (3) in the above, which can be recursively defined, are called mutual beliefs. Such explanation of cooperation mechanism using one s own cognitive state and a corresponding structure of recursive beliefs can clarify the constitutive meaning of sharing intentions by cooperating team members. 

The use of cooperative team thinking in identifying facts and constructing logic diagrams results in understanding and commitment by those involved. 

The objective ofthe SURV-RTRACKapplication is to provide an efficient monitoring service forthe surveillance ofacertaingeogr hical region (office, building floor, industrial plants...) using a cooperative team of mobile robots and a fixed network infiiastructure of sensor nodes. 

The successful accomplishment of a development project also requires cooperation between engineers and technicians in the development team and between engineers in R D, design engineering and in management. All this will require some common background, clear reporting, and much patience.

Employees in the process area where the incident occurred should be consulted, interviewed, or made members of the team. Their knowledge of the events represents a significant set of facts about the incident that occurred. The report, its findings, and recommendations should be shared with those who can benefit from the information. The cooperation of employees is essential to an effective incident investigation. The focus of the investigation should be to obtain facts, and not to place blame. The team and the investigative process should clearly deal with all involved individuals in a fair, open, and consistent manner. 

In providing a correctly optimized and accurate control system, all sections of the professional team involved in the project have to work together as a fully cooperating group. This includes persons who have a working knowledge of the process and those who are responsible for the automation and the electrotechnical aspects of the project. 

Remember that enthusiasm is contagious. In soliciting membership for your team you are selling" people on the PSM initiative as a professional opportunity. You re much more likely to get cooperation if people see it this way than if they view your efforts as just another committee."... 

Larry Brewer, who coordinated the collection of much of the data presented in the case studies presented in this article. Mr. Don Clay, Director of the Office of Toxic Substances, discussed the premanufacture review procedures and experience with PMNs to date at a meeting of the Organization for Economic Cooperation on Development (OECD) Chemicals Forum in December, (10). He noted that EPA s chemistry, toxicology, and exposure assessment teams normally complete their preliminary evaluation within a week of receipt of a PMN, and, that preliminary assessment eliminates about 50 percent of the substances as chemicals of low concern. They then proceed to structure activity analysis and reasonable worst case assumptions to assess unreasonable risk or the need for more data.
