Container oblong

The wireless pH capsule (Medtronic Inc.) is oblong in shape and contains an antimony pH electrode, a reference electrode at its distal tip, a battery, and a RF transmitter. The whole device is encapsulated in epoxy. The capsule is introduced into the esophagus on a catheter through the nose or mouth and is attached to the lining of the esophagus with a clip. The probe monitors the pH in the esophagus and transmits the information via RF telemetry at a rate of 6 per second (0.17 Hz) to a pager-sized receiver that is worn by the patient on a belt. Prior to implantation, the capsule is calibrated with its receiver in pH buffer solutions of pH 1.07 and pH 7.01 [168],... 

Capsules usually consist of an oblong casing — generally made of gelatin — that contains the drug in powder or granulated form (See. p. 9, C). 

Gupuacu is an Amazonian forest tree from Para state, Brazil. The fruits are 15-25 cm in length, 10-12 cm in diameter, and weigh between 0.8 and 2 kg. They are oblong fruits with a hard skin. The seeds contain caffeine and theobromine, alkaloids with stimulant properties. The seeds contain about 48% of a white fat similar to cocoa butter. The creamy-white pulp has an attractive and characteristic aroma and flavour. The fruits are consumed mainly as juice. 

A somewhat spherical or oblong body in most living cells. This nucleus contains the chromosomes, which, in turn, bear the genes of heredity. The nucleus also contains a nucleolus, or sometimes two or more nucleoli and a basic ground substance, the nucleoplasm. A nuclear membrane surrounds it on the outside, but this membrane is very porous, allowing materials to pass through rather freely. 

Features The oblong-conical shaped pods are fiery to the taste, and the numerous seeds contain a large amount of oil, which has a similar effect on the palate. The fruit itself, however, differs widely in size, colour and strength. The yellowish-red product of Sierra Leone is the most pungent, the long, bright red type from Japan being much milder. 

Features The branched stems of one to three feet high are tough and bristly. The whole plant is hairy, and the leaves are oblong and bipinnate, with acute segments. Blossoming in June and July, the umbel of white flowers usually contains one crimson flower in the centre. The root tapers, is yellowish-white, sweetish, and faintly aromatic. Wren tells us that "in taste and odour it resembles the garden carrot, but the root is small and white, not large." Ferrier, however, says of this root, "no resemblance in taste or colour to the cultivated carrot." Our own opinion is that Wild Carrot tastes like a rather distant relative of the household carrot—which it probably is.

The photoautotrophic cultures were carried out at 25 °C using 250-cm3 flat, oblong glass flasks containing 50 cm3 of MS liquid medium. The hairy roots... 

LAPIDES GEODES — A Stone containing Earth, of oblong shape, filled with a hard ochrine sand, and rattling when shaken the Stone Chemnicensis, of a ruddy colour, like iron-stone, and containing a moist clay. 

Figure 50 is one of the first to show the oblong irradiation pattern obtained using a Sanyo (now Weiss-Gallenkamp) (39) fluorescent cabinet. This cabinet did not contain the later added "diffuser."... 

Many computers, such as laptops, have flat-panel screens or displays that contain liquid crystals (Bahadur 1990). Liquid crystals are composed of small semirigid molecules that are elliptical or oblong in shape and spontaneously orient, forming anisotropic fluids (Collings 1990). Liquid crystals commonly used in flat-panel displays have orientational order but do not have long-range positional order. The direction of the preferred orientation in a liquid... 

Messenger RNA (inRNA) is the primsty type of ribonudeic add in the cell. Other types include transfer RNA (tRNA) and ribosonial RNA (rRNA). Messenger RNA occurs as a long, linear strand and contains information needed for the synthesis of a particular protein. tRNA also consists of a long, linear strand of RNA, but it spontaneously folds and twists to form an oblong structure. A ribosome consists of a large complex of proteins and rRNA molecules. 

Japanese fennel fruits somewhat resemble those of anise in appearance, but are more oblong and do not taper to the apex. Umney Pharm. J. 1896, 57, 91) obtained 2.7 per cent of pale yellow oil with the odour of sweet fennel. The solidifying-point was 7° C., melting-point 10°. When fractionated, the following fractions were obtained below 220°, 26 per cent 220-225°, 32 per cent 225-230°, 34 per cent residue, 8 per cent. According to Umney, this oil probably contains 75 per cent of anethole 10 per cent of fenchone (by reduction and acetylisation), with some pinene and dipentene it is not stated how the last two were identified.
