It has also been suggested that terlipressin has vasoconstrictor activity within the splanchnic vascular territory (21). Hypotension developed under general anesthesia in 32 patients undergoing carotid endarterectomy treated with renin-angiotensin inhibitors (22). They were randomized to received terlipressin 1 mg (n = 16) or noradrenaline infusion. Compared with baseline those who received terlipressin had reduced gastric mucosal perfusion for at least 4 hours. There was also reduced oxygen delivery and oxygen consumption index at 30 minutes and 4 hours in those who received terlipressin. [Pg.522]

Exergy consumption of resources that are renewable should also be considered. The overall cumulative exergy consumption index may help in assessing various energy utilization problems for a specified product, such as the relationships between the amounts of raw materials and the products, or the cost of raw materials and the alternative production technologies available. [Pg.280]

Here, r is the cumulative exergy consumption index for a specified product. For the manufacturing of major products, we have 17 < 1. Sometimes, for a byproduct we may have 17 > 1, if the exergy of the product is greater than the exergy of the substituted product of a certain process. It would not be useful to calculate 77 for certain products, such as cars and airplanes, because their usefulness results mainly from their system features, not from the chemical composition of their components. However, the calculation of r may be beneficial for all kinds of products, because the values of r can be used to compare various design variables and production technologies. [Pg.280]

During the 60 day test, no significant effects were observed on the body weight and food consumption index, yet roaches feeding on biscuits which had been soaked in a 0.05Z solution of canavanine produced fewer ootheca and reduced numbers eggs/obethca as compared to roaches fed untreated biscuits. The time of hatch was extended 2 weeks and the percent hatch was only 17Z that of the control. [Pg.128]

The consumptive index. Cl reflects another aspect of preconcentration system efficiency. i.e.. efficiency of sample utilization. This concept, recently proposed by the Author (11], is defined as the volume of sample, in milliliters, consumed to achieve a unit F. and is expressed by the equation ... [Pg.15]

An even jarger cellulose acetate disposable filter of 30 mm diameter was used for the preconcentration of cbppeffiy precipitation of the hydroxide [20]. The large dead volume of the filter seems to have a stronj ihfluence on the perfoimanceTsince CE was estimated to be about 0.7 min" (12-fold enrichment in about 3.5 min), with a consumptive index of about 1 ml. Precision data on the method was not available. [Pg.172]

Their biological properties have been tested many times, and more recently by Robert ( ). It was demonstrated that sucroglycerides decrease the consumption index, increase the digestibility of fats and nitrogen. [Pg.117]

E/F electrode consumption index (millimeters of slipping per megawatthour per 24 h). [Pg.609]
