A computer program is provided for ease of calculation and efficient use of the standard. This rational method of assessing hot environments allows identification of the relative importance of different components of the thermal environment, and hence can be used in environmental design. The WBGT index is an empirical index, and it cannot be used to analyze the influence of the individual parameters. The required sweat rate (SW. ) has this capability, but lack of data may make it difficult to estimate the benefits of protective clothing. 

The entries of this index were derived directly by computer program from the lists of references. The accuracy of the references was the sole responsibility of the authors. No editorial check, except for format and journal-title abbreviation, was applied. Consequently, errors occurring in authors names in the references will recur in this index. 

The Mond technique of hazard evaluation is fully explained in the ICI technical manual, ICI (1993)(1), to which reference should be made to implement the method. The calculations are made using a standard form, similar to that used for the Dow index. A computer program is available for use with IBM compatible personal computers. 

Basic data of the thickness of the adsorbed layer, t, and the refractive index, n, of the adsorbed layer were calculated from the experimental data of the phase difference, A, and the azimuth angle, i >, of the amplitude ratio by computer. The computer program proposed by McCrackin (10) was used.

The autosampler required a RS232 communication at 9600 baud using ASCII character strings in a question-and-answer manner. The density device (Anton Paar) communicated at 2400 baud and a complete data buffer of information was transmitted. The computer program was designed to select and validate data for each measurement. Finally, the refractive index instrument had to be strobed to provide data using an RS232 interface at 1200 baud. 

The value of r should refine to a value close to + 1 or — 1, where + 1 corresponds to the correct absolute structure and — 1 indicates that the absolute structure has to be inverted. Since rf is accompanied by an estimated standard deviation a(rj). an index of confidence is also available, Rogers rj test has been incorporated into the current versions of the major computer program systems for X-ray structure determination.

Bell (1981) (see also Bell and Bickel, 1981) measured all matrix elements for fused quartz fibers of a few micrometers in diameter with a photoelastic polarization modulator similar to that of Hunt and Huffman (1973) the HeCd (441.6 nm) laser beam was normal to the fiber axes. Advantages of fibers as single-particle scattering samples are their orientation is readily fixed and they can easily be manipulated and stored. Bell was able to determine the fiber radius to within a few tenths of a percent by varying the radius in calculations, assuming a refractive index of 1.446 + iO.O, until an overall best fit to the measured matrix elements was obtained. 

Alloys were prepared from metals of 99.9% purity by arc melting on a water-cooled copper hearth under an argon atmosphere. The alloys were homogenized at 800° C. Diffraction patterns of cast material were equally as sharp as those of homogenized alloys. X-ray diffraction patterns were taken with filtered FeKa radiation. Computer programs verified x-ray pattern indexes.

Evaluating the Melt Index (MI) from the Flow Curve Develop a methodology and computer program logic to evaluate the Melt Index (ASTM Standard D) of a material from its flow curve (non-Newtonian viscosity as a function of shear rate). 

Because of the broad base from which Chemical Abstracts indexes work, computer programs, in the form of technical reports, may be referenced. In such cases, CASSI format would be appropriate.
