Comprehensive performance test

Emissions from hazardous waste combustors are regulated under two statutory authorities RCRA and the CAA. The MACT standards set emission limitations for dioxins, furans, metals, particulate matter, total chlorine, hydrocarbons/carbon monoxide, and destruction and removal efficiency (DRE) for organics. Once a facility has demonstrated compliance with the MACT standards by conducting its comprehensive performance test (CPT) and submitting its notification of compliance (NOC), it is no longer subject to the RCRA emission requirements with a few exceptions. RCRA-permitted facilities, however, must continue to comply with their permitted emissions requirements until they obtain modifications to remove any duplicative emissions conditions from their RCRA... [Pg.460]

The general provisions of the MACT standards are contained in CAA regulations (40 CFR 63 Subpart A). Sources of hazardous air pollutants are required to demonstrate compliance with emission limitations by conducting a comprehensive performance test (CPT). If compliance is demonstrated, the facility s management files a notice of compliance (NOC) with the state regulatory body. Sources can use any combination of control technologies to achieve the emission standards. [Pg.41]

All hazardous waste combustors (HWCs), including hazardous waste incinerators (HWIs), cement kilns (CKs), and lightweight aggregate kilns (FWAKs), are subject to the MACT standards regardless of size or major source status. HWCs are required to be in compliance with the standards by September 30, 2003, and are required to demonstrate compliance by March 30,2004, through a Comprehensive Performance Test (CPT). The rule allows for a 1-year extension of the compliance date for facilities that need to install pollution control equipment to meet standards. [Pg.83]

Typical analysis of blood and urine is based upon chemical reactions, one per chemical species (or analyte ) of interest. Low-accuracy, single-analyte tests such as for blood glucose can be performed using at-home kits comprehensive blood tests at hospitals are performed using dedicated analyzers that suck in a sample and pump portions of it to various sensor modules. The purpose of this chapter is to explore the possibility of using Raman spectroscopy to replace conventional present tests in certain circumstances. [Pg.386]

Approximately 30 months after each periodic CPT, less comprehensive confirmatory tests are performed to demonstrate continued compliance with MACT standards by collecting gas samples to determine the presence of any dioxins. [Pg.41]

One example of a more comprehensive, computer-based memory performance test battery is that developed by Crook and colleagues (1986). This battery is directed at older adults, evaluates memory in the visual and auditory modalities at each of the three temporal process levels, and utilizes challenges... [Pg.525]

Other characterization tests were performed, such as porosimetry by mercury intrusion, thermal analysis and density by intrusion of helium, but the main characterization was possible from the tests already cited. As part of a more comprehensive characterization still in progress, other tests are being performed, namely durability performance tests such as penetration of chloride ions, electrical resistivity, capillary absorption and oxygen permeability. The results presented in this paper refer only related to the mechanical properties of compressive and tensile strength. [Pg.39]

Thirdly, synthetic elastomer was proposed in the effort of finding a new dielectric elastomer material. Comprehensive performance characterization proved that the new material has the highest energy density among the tested materials and the actuation is feasible. Furthermore, by adding different fillers, the properties of the synthetic elastomer material can be adjusted as needed. For instance, different content of DOP and Ti02 show better radial strain of actuation and also increase the elastic energy of the material. [Pg.268]

Further, the advertisement should state that finalists to be interviewed will be required to present comprehensive evidence of a prior similar commissioning project commissioning schedules, component and equipment verification testing procedures, system functional performance testing procedures, and final documentation of all tests. This will discourage unqualified firms from applying since they will not be able to meet the interview requirements. [Pg.47]

Battery designers claim that the test results obtained from comprehensive laboratory tests made on a wafer cell covered with a plastic film led to the successful development of the bipolar Ag-MH battery. The cell has slim structural elements, which can be stacked like a deck of cards to form a bipolar Ag-MH battery as illustrated in Figure 6.4. The bipolar plate consists of two opposing cell faces held in compression to achieve a slim bipolar Ag-MH battery. EEI first publicized its performance test results on single-wafer cells and multiwafer cells at a 1993 conference. [Pg.236]
