Complexation evaluation

Of all the metal complexes evaluated, copper phthalocyanines give the best combination of color and properties and consequentiy the majority of phthalocyanine dyes are based on copper phthalocyanine Cl Direct Blue 86 [1330-38-7] (Cl 74180) (68) is a typical dye. [Pg.283]

Illustrative QSPR plots and their interpretation are given in this section, followed by examples of Levels I, II and III fate calculations. A relatively simple evaluation of benzene is given first followed by the more complex evaluation of pentachlorophenol. [Pg.29]

The substitution of chemical solvents by water in paint and coating systems and also in cleaning processes creates complex evaluation issues, as the number of the various chemical components contained in the corresponding products generally increases. In addition, the release of persistent substances into the aquatic environment tends to be favoured by this. This therefore raises the question for assessing two suitable strategies containment of known hazardous substances in closed systems or substitution of the mobile solvent by complex water-based systems that are scarcely evaluable from a toxicological aspect. [Pg.107]

Oxovanadium(IV) complexes with dithiophosphate ligands have been extensively examined <8,121.161,252,386) x typical ESR spectrum is shown in Fig. 7. In addition to the eight vanadium 1=112 hyperfine lines phosphorus (/ = 1/2) superhyperfine splitting is also observed. The phosphorus superhyper-fine splitting can be considered a bit unusual since the phosphorus is located about 3 A or more away from the metal ion. P and As superhyperfine splitting has been observed in the ESR spectra of ill-defined vanadium phosphine 388) and arsine 389) complexes but in those cases, presumably, direct V-P and V—As interactions occur. ESR parameters have been tabulated for a large number of dithiophosphate 121,252) dithiophosphinate 121.252) complexes. Evaluation 3i) of the fractional 3s character of unpaired electron in dithiophosphate complexes yielded a value of 1.35%. The vanadyl(IV) complexes possess approximate C2V symmetry. The unpaired d electron resides... [Pg.110]

A concept that is critical in the complex evaluation of bound residues is the adduct residue. The concept of adduct residue can be applied to any metabolite covalently linked to an endogenous component. Hydrolysis of Ure macromolecular bound residue, whether by enzymatic or chemical means, may lead to lower-molecular-weight adduct residues, free residues, and residue fragments. Since bound residues are derived from reactive metabolites, the reversibility of adduct formation to yield reactive compounds may be a key factor in the safety assessment of bound residues. [Pg.273]

Initial tests were performed on a pool of 1,000 compounds, including seven known antagonists. Two scoring methods were able to place half the known antagonists into the top 5% of all docked compounds. This exercise validated the model of the C-C chemokine receptor type 5 binding pocket as well as the scoring method for complex evaluation. [Pg.259]

As Krapivin (1995) showed, complex evaluation of the pollution level in the Arctic Basin as a whole is possible by synthesizing a mathematical model of pollutant transport by rivers from adjacent territories. [Pg.388]

Table 2.5 also lists some of the chemical reactions which can promote release of metal ions from these phases. Distribution patterns are also often described in terms of mode of bonding (e.g. ion exchangeable, weakly sorbed, chemi-sorbed, complexed). Evaluation of the amount bound by these different bonding modes, or associated with different phases can be achieved by treating samples of the solid with chemical solutions having a range of chemical reactivities. (Some of the alternative approaches utilised are summarised in Table 2.6.)... [Pg.21]

The possibility of asymmetric induction under the fluorous biphase conditions was first speculated upon by Horvath and Rabai [10], and this year has seen the first report of asymmetric catalysis in a fluorous biphase [69]. Two, C2 symmetric salen ligands (29a, b) with four C8Fi7 ponytails have been prepared (Scheme 5) and their Mn(II) complexes evaluated as chiral catalysts for the aerobic oxidation of alkenes under FBS-modified Mukaiyama conditions. Both complexes are active catalysts (isolated yields of epoxides up to 85%) under unusually low catalyst loadings (1.5% cf. the usual 12%). Although catalyst recovery and re-use was demonstrated, low enantioselectivities were observed in most cases. [Pg.420]

The POTW EXPERT system demonstrates that a microcomputer-based expert system can effectively represent a complex evaluation methodology, evaluate the capability of a secondary wastewater treatment facility s major unit processes, detect factors which potentially limit performance, and categorize them according to their influence on plant performance. The model is presented in a logical and structured manner to allow wastewater professionals unfamiliar with the CPE process to effectively employ this wastewater treatment methodology. [Pg.144]

Zinc Ammonium Complexes. The zinc ammonium complexes were tested on a different chalky latex panel than the zinc oxide paints, and the entire series showed less blistering in the same deionized water fog box (Table II). The HEC-thickened control did not blister on this board. The HEUR control showed 7M blisters on this board vs. 2MD (Table I). Addition of the zinc ammonium complexes resulted in much-improved early blister resistance. Blister-resistance effectiveness differed depending on which complex was used. The four zinc ammonium complexes evaluated in the HASE-... [Pg.545]

Ionic cross-linking of the water-sensitive carboxyl groups in the HASE thickeners (and probably other carboxyl groups in the paint) with either low levels of zinc oxide in the mill base or post-added zinc ammonium complexes can be effective in improving the early blister resistance of HASE-thickened latex paints over heavily chalked latex paint surfaces. Of the zinc ammonium complexes evaluated, the zinc ammonium carbonate and bicarbonate ap-... [Pg.547]
