Both stress-induced crystallization and orientational crystallization can be used for the preparation of polymer materials with mechanical property values (e.g. tenacities and elastic moduli) much higher than those for polymer films and fibers obtained by conventional processing. We believe that the advantage of orientational crystallization over more complex methods consists in the possibility of obtaining samples of elastic moduli and tenacities in a one-step continuous process. [Pg.244]

A method for preparing specific alkyl-substituted dienyl complexes takes advantage of the propensity of (diene)Fe(CO)3 complexes to rearrange under acidic conditions, coupled with the acid-promoted dehydration illustrated earlier for the conversion of (9) to (8). The third solution to the problem may be found in the use of more efficient computers, algorithms and computational methods. There are many opinions regarding the use of Division 1 versus Division 2, but the bottom line is economics. In the article ASME Pressure-Vessel Code Which Division to Choose , the authors have listed a number of factors for consideration. Division 1 uses approximate formulas, charts, and graphs in simple calculations. Division 2, on the other hand, uses a complex method of formulas, charts, and design-by-analysis which must be described in a stress report. Sometimes so many additional requirements are added to (he minimum specifications of a Division 1 vessel that it might be more economical to supply a Division 2 vessel and take advantage of the higher allowalilc stresses. [Pg.18]

Closely related routes to alkoxyamines have also been described by Studer and Grubbs research groups. They both used nitroso compounds as radical traps. Studer et used the reaction between hydrazine and lead oxide to promote the alkyl radical formation, whereas Grubbs et generated the alkyl radical by reaction of an alkyl bromide with copper(I) complex. The advantage of this technique relies on the in situ production of the nitroxide.
