Warning coloration

Let the alcohol/acid/mercury mixture stand for 1 hour. NOTE After about 5 to 15 minutes, the temperature of the mixture will start to rise and heavy white fumes will boil out of the mixture. Also, after several minutes the fumes may take on a slightly red color WARNING These fumes are poisonous. Be sure to have adequate ventilation. 

Standard trucks are fully equipped with proper guards and safety devices (overhead protection or enclosures, guarded drives and tires, distinctive paint color, warning horns, truck-moimted fire extinguishers, etc.). Trucks used in hazardous locations must be specifically approved for their service. Further, each type of truck needs special handling for recharging or refueling. Additionally, color may also serve as a key to cataloging a food as safe. Undesirable colors of meats, fruits, and vegetables warn us about potential dangers or at least of the presence of undesirable flavors. Color and other sensory attributes are even misused as indicators for safety. Walker and co-authors demonstrated that in small and medium enterprises, more than 50% of food handlers thought that they could tell whether food was contaminated with food poisoning bacteria by sight, smell, and taste. Color is thus used as a way to identify a food and judge its quality."... 

Technical grade tetrahydrofuran was predried for a few days over sodium hydroxide. It was then heated under reflux over sodium wire with benzophenone until it developed a permanent blue color and distilled with exclusion of atmospheric moisture. [Caution See Org. Whenever ambient noise levels are above emergency alarm signals or tones, flashing lights or beacons should be considered that are visible in all portions of the affected area. The color of flashing lights should be consistent with the safety warning colors adopted at the facility. 

The reasons are pretty simple, if not obvious. How re you going to see where to make the cuts if you run colorless samples Even though nylon tubing is transparent to UV light, and theoretically you can see the compounds under UV, many eluents absorb in the UV, and the whole column would just look dark. Then you d probably get into trouble guessing where to make the cuts in the tubing to get the compounds separated. Just stick to colored compounds. And don t say I didn t warn you. 

Notice how the protective strategies are first classified into three categories appearance, chemicals, and armor. Each of these categories is then further classified for analysis. Appearance, for example, is broken down into three types of protection strategies camouflage, warning colors, and mimicry.

Take an 80 milligram dose of prescription diuretic lasix (furosemide). Prescription diuretics are the most potent. Some over the counter diuretics will color your urine blue and should be avoided. WARNING -Diuretics can be harmful to people with kidney problems, pregnant women, and diabetics.-... 

Patients should be warned that rifampicin colors urine, tears and other body fluids reddish-orange. Adverse effects further include rashes and pruritus and gastrointestinal complaints like nausea, anorexia and diarrhoea. With intermittent therapy a probably allergic hypersensitivity reaction can occur which mostly manifests itself as a flu-like syndrome with fever but can also result in nephritis and acute tubular necrosis. Elevation of serum transaminase levels occur frequently but clinical hepatitis is rare. Fatal outcome has been reported however. 

Drug Administration (FDA) recommends monitoring liver function every 2 weeks. It is also advisable to educate parents about the warning symptoms of hepatitis. Such symptoms include stomach pain, gastrointestinal (GI) distress, and change of color of urine (darker) or stool (lighter).
