Monitors, color

There is often a fundamental disparity between the graphic ability of computer monitors and that of printers. Monitors may use anywhere from 8-bit color (256 colors) to 24-bit color (16 million colors). Printers, except for dye sublimation models, use four colors, which are printed in a pattern that tricks the eye into seeing all colors. Monitors generally use about a 72-dpi (dots per inch) screen resolution, as compared to printer resolutions of 300 dpi or better. [Pg.120]

The minimal hardware requirements, which are certainly adequate for all items discussed here, are an IBM or IBM-compatible PC equipped with at least 640 K RAM, a single floppy disk drive, at least a 40-Mbyte hard disk drive, a CD-ROM drive, a VGA color monitor, and a printer. The basic point here is that hardware requirements are minimal and readily available. In the case of the laser disk products, a laser disk drive and high resolution (VGA) monitor are also required. [Pg.105]

Other items the visualization console is a color monitor made by Thomson and the printer is a thermic paper Trendcom 100. The whole system is presented in Fig. 48. [Pg.73]

The matrix T which transforms the linear RGB coordinates of the display device to XYZ space can be computed as follows (Watt 2000) In case of a color monitor, let i, y, with i e r, g, hj be the chromaticity coordinates of the phosphors red, green, and blue. Note that z, = L — jc —. We can rewrite the matrix T as... [Pg.79]

Artificial Intelligence, urban planning and the automotive industry use this form of graphics to represent and view objects. The design of a building complex might be represented in the machine an shown on a color monitor so that the designer could "walk" around the structure and view them from different perspectives. [Pg.60]

In thermal field flow fractionation (TFFF), a temperature gradient is applied. The primary potential advantage of this technique is that it can be used to size particles in the range 0.01 pm to 0.001 pm, an order of magnitude smaller than SFFF. Fffractionation market a TFFF polymer fractionator channel module with 286/16 MHz IBM compatible PC, super VGA color monitor workstation to include data acquisition software, hardware and data analysis software. A linear UV detector and single channel high performance pump are optional. [Pg.282]

For viewing of the video data from a hot-stage experiment, a high-resolution color monitor connected to the camera output gives the ability to easily view the experiment without having to peer through the microscope ocular. The video (either digital or from videotape) can also be presented on a quality monitor. [Pg.232]

Utility Routines. Various utilities allow the user to re-index database files, define the printer, and set up a color monitor. [Pg.203]

Another technique is vacancy spectroscopy. In this application, an eluent is used that absorbs uv or visible radiation. When the sample passes through the detector, less radiation is absorbed because of the vacancy. For example, the benzene ring in a mixture of 4 mM salicylic acid - (Tris) is measured at 254 nm. Alternately, the eluent for cations can be Ce and the decrease in the yellow color monitored in the visible region. [Pg.286]

HMD fuUy immersive display is made up of two color monitors that project the image directly in front of the eyes and a lens system that widens the image to the natural field of view. Because the convergence angles, the screen arrangement presents a certain appearance of depth. [Pg.2507]
