Coextrusion compound

Coextrusion compound modification is the process in which a number of extruders are used to produce different molten material flows individually, which are then gathered in a complex head sink to obtain multilayer composite products. The procedure can combine multilayer materials with different... [Pg.28]

In addition, coextrusion compound modification can greatly reduce product cost, simplify processes, and reduce equipment investment. The composite process does not use solvents and therefore will not produce waste gas, waste water, and industrial residue. For these reasons, coextrusion composite modification is widely used in the production of compound fibers, films, plates, pipes, profiles, wires, and cables. [Pg.29]

Coextrusion and lamination processes have been described extensively in the patent literature. The technology usually involves multilayer structures utilizing, as an adhesive layer, a compound of PVDF with another material, which provides the bonding to the substrate. In this way, the full benefits of a thin film of PVDF may be realized (121). Another approach using acrylic alloys with PVDF sometimes achieves adherence to various substrates without the tie layer necessary for the pure PVDF film (122). The full breadth of options available by these technologies to protect surfaces with weatherable PVDF surfaces has been reviewed (123). Surface PVDF layers on polyolefins has been a particular technology of interest with respect to suitable finishes in cost effective parts for exterior automotive and agricultural equipment applications (124). [Pg.9058]

After determining that compound 1 had a large photoinduced index of refraction change in the solid state and that it had enough thermal stability for incorporation into extruded superlattices, a large 50 g batch of the compound was synthesized for eventual use in the coextrusion system. "We also demonstrated the incorporation of 1 into a superlattice fabricated via the modified spin casting procedure (Figure 8). [Pg.269]

Studies of the processing behaviour of thermoplastic elastomers carried out by Berstorff are reported, and developments by the Company in processing methods and machinety for these materials are examined. These include extmsion compounding machinery, extmders for the production of solid profiles and for the coextrusion of profiles combining solid and foamed thermoplastic elastomers with mbbers, and a process for the extmsion of foamed profiles using water as blowing agent. [Pg.61]

Types of extruders manufactured by Berstorff for the processing of thermoplastic elastomers are reviewed. These include extmsion compounding lines and machineiy for the extmsion and coextrusion of water blown foam profiles. [Pg.64]
