Clipboard, use

Sends the plot as a vector-oriented metafile to the MS-WINDOWS clipboard from where it can be transferred into any other MS-WINDOWS program. The plot area of the output is taken from the currently displayed area in the Spectrum window. Parameter lists and the title cannot be transferred using this method. They can be copied by transferring the output, including the title and lists, first into the Preview window, from where it may be copied to the MS-WINDOWS clipboard using the Copy option in the Edit pull-down menu in the Preview window menu bar. 

With the Copy command a copy of the screen contents is stored in the MS-WINDOWS clipboard. If you have more than one window on the screen, the window to be copied may be specified using the mouse. If all windows should be copied into the clipboard use the Copy all command. The Copy options are used to transfer 2D layouts into the Preview window of ID WIN-NMR (see 4.10.5). 

The preview can be printed on the connected printer using the Print button. The preview can be transferred to the Windows clipboard using the OutputI Copy command. 

A block of cells can be selected by moving the cursor to the upper left cell of the block and then moving it to the opposite corner of the block while holding down the left mouse button ( dragging the cursor). You can also drag the cursor in the opposite direction. The contents of the cell or block of cells can then be cut or copied into the clipboard, using the Cut command or the Copy command under the Home tab. The contents of the clipboard can be pasted into a new location. One selects the upper left cell of the new block of cells and then uses the Paste command under the Home tab to paste the clipboard contents into the workbook. If you put something into a set of cells and want to remove it, you can select the cells and then press the Delete key. 

Sin ce the Molecu lar Dynamics Results window con lain ing plots is a true window, an image of it alone can be captured into the clipboard or a file using Top-level in the File/Preferences/Setiip Image dialog box. Th is captured image, in addition to shtnving the molecular dynamics plots, shows the Restart and Done buttons, etc. If you on ly want the plots, you can erase the details of the box with a paint program, such as Microsoft Windows Pain thru sh which comes with Microsoft Windows. 

Copy under the Edit menu is used for eopying graphics and data onto the clipboard. This can later be imported into such programs as Microsoft Word and Excel. There are two modes of operation ... 

Copy to Clipboard) provides the selection (Graph), (Results), and (Values). (See Fig. 5.9.) One of the three can be selected and sent to the clipboard. After changing to another application, such as Microsoft Word, the contents of the clipboard can be retrieved use the [Alt] [Tab] keys for rapidly switching between active programs. After returning to the SMAC program, select the next output. 

The option "Select" can be used to copy on the "clipboard" any figure appearing in the windows of the CHAOS program. For example, you can copy synthetic pathways obtained with the option "Synthetic sequence" (Process menu), synthesis trees, etc. 

Here we have selected options to make the background transparent and use the screen colors shown in Probe. Click the OK button to copy the Probe screen to the clipboard. Switch to MS Word and paste the image into your document ... 

In a similar manner to the program for optimization of a packed column, the program written in table (2) is in a very simple form that can be translated easily to the basic language used by other computers. The output will be sent directly to the monitor screen in the output window. However, by replacing the PRINT statements by LPRINT statements the output will be sent to a printer. If the clipboard is defined a file, and the result print, statements are replaced by write statements, then the results can be sent to the clipboard and pasted into word processing text. An example of an output from the program Is shown in Table (3),... 

Use the Copy all function in the Output pull-down menu to copy this layout into the clipboard. This copy will be used in the next Check it. Note that with Copy instead of Copy all only the active window, e.g. the contour plot window, but not the other windows will be copied into the clipboard. 

Start 1D WIN-NMR, enter the Preview window and use the Frame option to open a frame for the 2D layout copied into the clipboard in the previous Check it. With the cursor positioned within the frame double click on the left mouse button to open the dialog box. Click on Paste and then OK to Import the 2D layout. Double click the left mouse button and in the Metafile Options dialog box adjust x-Factor and y-Factor to position the 2D layout correctly within the frame. Open additional frames to accommodate the entire 1D C spectrum D. NMRDATA GLUCOSE 1D C GC 001999.1 R) and the structural formula (Fig. 4.33). Arrange and resize these frames for the best representation. Use additional graphical elements (Lines, Rectangle) available within the Preview window of 1D WIN-NMR for assignment purposes. Set up your output device and plot the layout. 

Safety note Caution is neaded when using strong (concentrated) acids. When using concentrated acids always work in a fume CLipboard. Wear gloves to protect your hands horn acid burns. Always rinse affectiid areas with copious amounts of water. 

The COM is the standardized communication technology in the Microsoft Windows world. COM technology allows integration of software on different levels, some of which are the Windows Clipboard integration, ActiveX plug-ins, and OLE. The use of this standard interface allows software to do the following ... 

Highlight the data in AA6 AA206, copy that column with Ctrl + c to the clipboard, highlight the appropriate target cell in row AB6 AI6, then use Edit => Paste Special => Values to copy the values in column AA to the column for that particular value of p. 

The final processing steps before plotting or the export to the clipboard are the definition of the ID spectra to be used as projections, the choice of the number and relative intensity of the contour levels and the selection of the plot parameters. The main functions of the spectrum window are combined in the upper part of the button panel as shown in Fig. 3.17 and are executed or enabled by a click of the left mouse button. Some functions have their own special cursor mode and it is only possible to leave these functions by clicking the function button again. 

The Bloch simulator is started using the pull-down menu command Utilities Bloch module... The main display window is shown in Fig. 4.23. The different representation modes are available from the corresponding commands of the Calculate pull-down menu opening particular dialog boxes. The FilelCopy to clipboard function offers the possibility to transfer the current graphical representation in the main display window to the Windows clipboard and then into other Windows programs. 

Data can be exported to Excel using the Ctrl A command to select all data, followed by the Ctrl C command to copy all data to the clipboard.

These can be compared with drawings in laboratory notebooks to see, at a glance, whether the features are annotated at the proper locations. Different styles can be used, and new styles can be created, to customize the appearance of the graphical view. The picture can be copied to a personal computer s clipboard for pasting into a word processor or drawing program.

Finally, at any point along the way in using Entrez, if there are partial or complete search results that the user wishes to retain while moving onto a new query, the Add to Clipboard button can be pushed. This stores the results of the cmrent query, which the user can return to by clicking the Clipboard hyperlink directly imder the text box. The clipboard holds a maximum of 500 items, and the items are held in memory for 1 h.

The query sequence should be pasted from the clipboard into the large text field (where the sequence of U43746 is shown in this figure). Other essential elements of the search are the name of the search program and the database, both of which may be selected from drop-down lists. Additional optional parameters may be set if desired. In addition to this "Advanced BLAST" form, there is also a "Basic BLAST" form in which the advanced options are hidden. In either case, simply press the Submit Query button to begin the search.

To overcome these problems in the IT world, the industry has developed a component object model (COM) which basically defines what an object is and how it should relate to other objects. COM therefore allows software from different manufacturers to work together and is one of the things that makes such everyday functions such as "drag and drop" so easy to use. (The application you are dropping into needs to understand the format of what you are dropping, and the application you are dragging from needs to know how to how to place the data or object onto the "clipboard"). 

The MCQ can be administered using paper and pencil forms or using a computerized version. Advantages to the paper and pencil method are that it requires no equipment other than the form, a pencil, and perhaps a clipboard however, it will have to be scored by hand, which introduces the possibility of human error. A computerized version presents the MCQ items one at a time, and participants respond using the mouse or keyboard to move a cursor to indicate their response. Repeated administration of the MCQ should continue for sufficient time to observe a complete time course. Responses to tobacco imagery cues have been shown to remain at peak levels for at least 15 min (8). 

Any type of watch can be used to identiiy the predetermined times of observations. Computers can also be used to determine the schedule of daily observations. Another alternative to help analysts decide when to make daily observations is a random reminder. A pocket-sized instrument beeps at random times, letting analysts know when to make the next observation. Electronic clipboards with optional work samphng software can also be extremely helpful. For example, the OS-3 Plus recorder (see Section 2.2) is available with a work sampling program that permits the scheduling of random observations and the performance rating of individual readings. It so produces a summary statistics and formatted printed reports.
