Note Safety

Potential Fire Hazard from Anaerobic Decomposition in Cooling Water System, Safety Note No. DOE/EH-0109, U.S. Dept, of Energy, Washington, D.C., Oct. 1989. [Pg.46]

Abstracts citations. Mathematical signs and common abbreviations are employed to help condense prose and a glossary of the latter is provided in each volume. Dangerous or potentially dangerous procedures are highlighted in safety notes printed in boldface type. [Pg.23]

Chemical Health and Safety Notes, ACS Division of Chemical Health and Safety, Washington, 1982 to date (4 issues/yr)... [Pg.1929]

A further safety note should be made here. Some of the simple alkyldichlorophosphines are extremely corrosive and flammable in air. Extreme caution should be exercised in their handling. [Pg.117]

Safety note Avoid contact of all organic compounds with your skin (wear gloves) and also avoid breathing the vapors as much as possible. [Pg.235]

Safety note. An electrochemical HCN detector (Micro III G203, GfG-Gesellschaft fiir Geratebau mbH, Dortmund, Germany) was placed in the fume hood for continuous monitoring. [Pg.263]

Sulphuric acid-selenium reagent, approx 98% m/m H SO - Safety note wear PPE because this is highly corrosive. Add 4 g selenium powder to 400 ml sulphuric acid (approx. 98% m/m H SO ), and heat until just fuming. Stir occasionally with a glass rod until all the selenium has dissolved to give a dark green solution. Carefully remove from the hotplate and allow to cool. Make up to approximately 1 I with sulphuric acid. [Pg.75]

Buffer solution, double strength - add to 4.5 I water, 400 g oven-dried calcium acetate, 80 g 4-nitrophenol and 6 g of light magnesium oxide. [Safety note 4- (or para-) nitrophenol may cause eye irritation or irreversible eye injury, and may be harmful by absorption through skin or ingestion.] Heat the mixture to dissolve the solids and dilute to 5 I. Filter if the solution is not clear. The pH of this solution should lie between 6.9 and 7.1 adjust by the addition of hydrochloric acid or magnesium oxide as necessary. [Pg.82]

Potassium hydroxide solution, 7.5 M - dissolve 210 g potassium hydroxide pellets in water and make up to 500 ml and mix. Safety note this is highly caustic and PPF must be worn. [Pg.185]

Safety Note Making the incision for hot-spotting is best done by a special application of the glass-knife to the tube which, being difficult to describe, is illustrated in Fig. 2.15(a). Note that it is the tip of the thumb that supports the glass tube, so that if it should shatter, there is at worst a flesh wound. If the joint of the thumb were used (Fig. 2. A b)) a tendon would be at risk ... [Pg.63]

The ease with which diazo compounds are formed in these reactions should constitute reasonable warning that the nitrosation of all amines is fraught with considerable hazard. Not only can the unstable diazo compounds be formed, but also the intermediate /V-nitrosoamines themselves may be explosive in nature. Therefore each particular case must be carefully examined with all caution. As a matter of fact, even though reactions may have been run successfully at one time or another, this does not necessarily imply that the reaction is indeed safe (see safety note in Redemann et al. [18a]). [Pg.469]

Demer, F. R., University of Arizona Lab. Safety Notes, 1992, winter... [Pg.898]

Demer, F. R., University of Arizona Lab. Safety Notes, 1990, (Fall), 2 A report of an explosion when mixing an outmoded silver staining reagent involving ammonia which could, and evidently did, form fulminating silver. Use of more modem safe formulations is commended. [Pg.2359]

Safety Note This manual is not meant to teach glassblowing because there are already several excellent books for that purpose (see Appendix D). [Pg.488]

Two similar drugs are therapeutically equivalent if they have comparable efficacy and safety. [Note Clinical effectiveness often depends both on maximum serum drug concentrations and the time after administration required to reach peak concentration. Therefore, two drugs that are bioequivalent may not be therapeutically equivalent.]... [Pg.18]
