Classification and marking

Classification and marking of intrinsically safe apparatus concerning explosion groups (I, IIA, IIB, IIC) and temperature classes (T1-T6) are organized in the same way as for, e.g., flameproof enclosure - d (see Tables 4.1 and 4.2, Chapter 4, and Chapter 5 for marking). Some special features, however, which are of importance for type of protection intrinsic safety - i only, will be explained in the following. [Pg.362]

In principle, intrinsic safety - i is a characteristic of an electric circuit. It may run within an autonomous apparatus, e.g. within a hand lamp. The electric circuit, however, may be formed just as well by two (or more) apparatus, e.g. a transmitter which is connected to a limiting stage (in the following described as Ex i-isolator ). [Pg.362]

As a rule, this Ex i-isolator is installed in a safe area and connected to additional apparatus not ex-protected, e.g. to a single loop controller or to a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller). Therefore, in the field of intrinsic safety two types of apparatus are distinguished  [Pg.362]

Intrinsically safe apparatus is designed for use or installation in a potentially explosive gas atmosphere. [Pg.362]

Associated apparatus is commonly installed in a safe area. Many applications of intrinsic safety in remote control and monitoring instrumentation are assembled in such a way that an intrinsically safe apparatus, e.g. a sensor or actuator in the hazardous area, is connected with an associated apparatus, e.g. a safety barrier or an Ex i-isolator in the safe area (see Fig. 6.196). With that, the associated apparatus takes over the function to safely limit current and voltage in the intrinsically safe circuit to permissible values. [Pg.363]

Several methods have been developed for quantifying dental fluorosis. The most commonly used method is Dean s index [49], which classifies fluorosis on a scale of 0 to 4 as follows class 0, no fluorosis class 1, very mild fluorosis (opaque white areas irregularly covering <25% of the tooth surface) class 2, mild fluorosis (white areas covering 25-50% of the tooth surface) class 3, moderate fluorosis (all surfaces affected, with some brown spots and marked wear on surfaces subject to attrition) and class 4, severe fluorosis (widespread brown stains and pitting). The average score of the two most severely affected teeth is used to derive the classification. Other commonly used methods to rate dental fluorosis include the Thylstrup-Fejerskov Index (TFI) [50] and the tooth surface... [Pg.496]

The author has had the temerity to make structural classifications and postulate correlations in many cases without rigorous proof. This is partially based on experience and intuition, but it is presumed that a number of such postulations will in time be shown to be incorrect. It is hoped that in most cases these will serve a useful purpose, even if only to stimulate the reader to point out such errors. Where the assignment is in considerable doubt, a question mark has been inserted and, of course, the most dubious cases have been listed under Unclassified. [Pg.3]

Since the experimental results, by design of completely randomized blocks, are processed by analysis of variance, experimental results of randomized blocks will be presented as a two-way classification and notation, as introduced in Sect. 1.5. We only introduce the change that the measured values or response are marked by y and factors by X j. Design of completely randomized block structure is given in Table 2.44... [Pg.229]

Significant improvements in the technologies of high-resolution two-dimensional Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (2-D PAGE) and Mass Spectrometry (MS) have marked the start of proteome analysis. Proteomics permits the analysis of thousand of proteins simultaneously, and have the potential to identify markers for early detection, classification and prognosis of diseases, as well as pinpointing targets for improved treatment outcomes [42]. [Pg.527]

UL is an example of an approval laboratory that industry and the government depends on its exceptionally qualified performance. It identifies a product which has been produced under UL s classification and follow-up service and which bears authorized classification marking of UL as the manufacturer s declaration that the product complies with UL s requirements. The UL s Laboratory Factory Inspection involves visits by a UL s representative to a factory or other facility. Purpose of conducting the examination and/or tests of products is to ensure compliance with UL approved requirement. The examination is the means that shows how the manufacturer exercises its operation to determine compliance with the UL s requirements. [Pg.871]

The many ways to make polymers can be broken into two types of reactions based on the mechanisms of the polymerization, step and chain reactions (5). This reaction classification was termed condensation or addition reactions in the past but this archaic nomenclature is slowly dying away. The labels step and chain were developed for the two types of polymerizations by Flory and Mark (5, 6). All step reactions conduct the same stepwise reaction between all reactive entities in the reaction mixture. The... [Pg.801]

Filter classifications are marked on the filter or filter package. These classifications are N-Series Not Oil Resistant (approved for non-oil particulate contaminants such as dust, fumes, or mists not containing oil) R-Series Oil Resistant (approved for all particulate contaminants, including those containing oil such as dusts, mists, or fumes—time restriction of 8 hours when oils are present) and P-Series Oil Proof (approved for all particulate contaminants including those containing oil such as dust, fumes, or mists). (See manufacturer s time use restrictions on packaging.)... [Pg.396]
