Classifications and Designations

The amino acid sequence is used for classification, first in superfamilies Cryl, Cry2, etc. If the sequence is more similar, a letter is added (CrylA, CrylB, etc.) and the individual proteins are called CrylAl, Cry3B3, etc. Other older classification and designation systems, not based on amino acid sequence, are still in use. [Pg.69]

A further ISO document. ISO 6601 [102]. related to wear exists, although this is really a terminology document for both friction and wear, and ISO 6691 [lOi ] is concerned w ith the classification and designation of plastics for bearings. [Pg.335]

In addition to natural rubber, today many synthetic rubbers are commercially available. Although there are several ways to classify these rubbers, the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard D1418-85 gives the classification and designation of rubbers based on their chemical composition. Therefore, in this chapter, the classification and naming of rubbers are based on this standard. For convenience, the nomenclature is reproduced in Table 1, extracted from the standard. [Pg.186]

The economizer section is designed in full consideration of operating transients, startup and standby operation, and accident conditions such as loss of feedwater flow and feedwater line break. The structural design of the various parts is adequate to withstand the thermal and pressure loadings from these various conditions, consistent with the appropriate load classifications and design rules in the ASME Code, Section III, see Appendix G. [Pg.143]

All enzymes are classified into six major classes according to the nature of the chemical reaction catalyzed ... [Pg.97]

The proposed sequence relies on some degree of conservatism in classification and design in order to avoid any further iteration on the design as a consequence of the radioactive dispersion analysis. The approach is more straightforward, even if it relies on engineering practice in the choice of the conservatism level to avoid loop back from the radiation doses to siting and design of the facility. [Pg.26]

Adhesives for ceramic tiles are specified by the standard EN 12004 2007 (Adhesives for tiles. Requirements, evaluation of conformity, classification, and designation), and includes performance requirements for cementitious, dispersion, and reaction resin adhesive types for all internal and/or external wall, floor and ceiling applications. Annex ZA, of this standard, sets out the requirements, which address the provisions of the Construction Products Directive (see O Sect. 35.4 below), and include assessments of durability. Compliance with these requirements confers a presumption of fitness for purpose for the applications and form part of a CE mark. In these cases durability is assessed by elevated temperature and/or water immersion accelerated ageing or freeze-thaw cycling of test specimens and then determining tensile or shear adhesion strength against minimum requirements. [Pg.914]
