Chemical-physical characteristics

The different chemical-physical characteristics of the dyes molecules, as well as of their intermediates, can differently influence the bioavailability through the actual concentration in the aqueous phase, where microorganisms or enzymes are active,... [Pg.199]

As a conclusion to these comments, we may mention that two structures are defined as crystal-chemically isotypic if they are isoconfigurational and the corresponding atoms (and bonds) have similar chemical/physical characteristics. [Pg.114]

Zebrafish embryo assay results were compared to the ToxCast in vitro assay features from the predictive model of developmental toxicity (50). A majority of the features were significant between the zebrafish data and predictive models, despite the fact that the zebrafish assay did not correlate with global developmental toxicity defined by species-specific ToxRefDB data. The top 15 chemicals predicted to be developmental toxicants and bottom 15 chemicals predicted not to be developmental toxicants varied in their endpoint responses and logP values. Padilla et al. (35) noted that chemical-physical characteristics could limit the amount of chemical seen by the embryo due to poor solubility or poor uptake. This may be the reason that a majority of the bottom 15 chemicals with no zebrafish embryo activity had logP values less than 1.0. The bottom 15 chemicals with zebrafish embryo activity could almost exclusively be characterized by the negative predictors of the species-specific developmental toxicity models, which may be indicating that these predictors have differing roles between mammalian and zebrafish development. [Pg.369]

Selecting the appropriate glove materials with epoxy resins systems involves matching the characteristics of the glove with the requirements of the production task. Glove resistance characteristics can be classified as either physical or chemical. Physical characteristics of production tasks are dexterity wet grip and cut, tear, puncture, and abrasion resistance. Chemical characteristics are dependent on the aggressiveness of the resins, solvents, and other materials. [Pg.422]

Ivanchev et al. compared, under the same ethylene polymerization conditions, the performances of some supported systems with those of traditional ones. The authors not only found that the activity of supported systems is determined by the chemical-physical characteristics of the carrier, which influence the number and the propagation constant of the active centres, but also, in agreement with other authors that changes take place, in the elementary polymerization processes, such as to modify the polymer molecular structure. Indeed, as one can observe (Table 6), it is... [Pg.128]

The main technical characteristics of the Rotaflam burner are summarized in Table 31.12. The PL used was the green delayed petroleum coke with the chemical physical characteristics shown in Table 31.13. The primary air was supplied by two high pressure centrifugal fans with the characteristics presented in Table 31.14. Only as an example, the experimental results are given using the tip 7 with the following set up of the Rotaflam burner as it is shown in Table 31.15. The reduction of the transport air didn t result in a significant reduction on NO emission, but it had a positive impact on kiln specific heat consumption. [Pg.648]

The reduction of unsaturated C-C bonds constitutes one of the largest applications of heterogeneous catalysis [48]. On the surface of a metal particle, hydrogen is either cleaved homolytically to give M-H units or is adsorbed in the intact form. The metal sites that are responsible for either activation path of Hj on the catalyst surface as well as the chemical-physical characteristics of the adsorbed H2 are still a matter of debate. In this respect, molecular systems mimicking the activation of Hj on a single metal site without the cooperation of a solvent are expected to provide valuable information on the mechanism of Hj adsorption/release over heterogeneous metal catalysts. [Pg.279]

Numerous overlapping processes determine biocompatibility. Not only do the mechanical and chemical/physical characteristics of the material influence the tolerance but also the special place of application, the individual reaction of the complement system and the cellular immune system as well as the physical condition of the patient. [Pg.7]

As mentioned, there is not a specific level of purity for the polymers used for MDs. Purity level is easier to determine for drugs because the required degree of purity is pharma grade. However, there are ASTM standards that give the specific conditions for which a polymer can be used in different areas. For example, the ASTM F1925-09 Standard Specification for Semi-Crystalline Poly (lactide) Polymer and Copolymer Resins for Surgical Implants outlines the chemical-physical characteristics so that the poly(lactic acid) or a copolymer thereof can be used in a specified field. ASTM standards are available for purchase on the web. [Pg.130]

It is not easy to find a formula to evaluate the friction coefficient under mixed lubrication conditions. As reported in many studies (see for instance [24]), complex phenomena related to the asperity contacts and to the chemical-physical characteristics of lubricant and materials are not easy to combine in a single expression. For instance, to include boundary lubrication effects, roughness should be present in each potential formula, but it cannot easily be introduced by using only one parameter such as Rq the above mentioned wear phenomena introduce additional variables. [Pg.831]
