Resistance characteristics

Fig. 1. The hthographic process. A substrate is coated with a photosensitive polymer film called a resist. A mask with transparent and opaque areas directs radiation to preselected regions of the resist film. Depending on resist characteristics, exposed or unexposed portions of the film are removed using a developer solvent. The resulting pattern is then transferred to the substrate surface and the resist is stripped.

Corrosion. Copper and selected copper aHoys perform admirably in many hostile environments. Copper aHoys with the appropriate corrosion resistance characteristics are recommended for atmospheric exposure (architectural and builder s hardware), for use in fresh water supply (plumbing lines and fittings), in marine appHcations (desalination equipment and biofouling avoidance), for industrial and chemical plant equipment (heat exchangers and condensers), and for electrical/electronic appHcations (coimectors and semiconductor package lead-frames) (30) (see Packaging).

These systems are dominated by the Vulkollan materials, whtch remain of importance because of their excellent load-bearing and, for a polyurethane, excellent heat-resisting characteristics. 

The 18x7 and 19x7 wire rope shall contain 18 or 19 strands, respectively. Each strand is made up of seven wires. It is manufactured counterhelically laying an outer 12-strand layer over an inner 6x7 or 7x7 wire rope. This produces a rotation-resistant characteristic. Corrosion resistance and color are extremely important in many products. Protective coatings for most plastics are not required owing to their inherent corrosion-resistant characteristics. The eroding effects of rust are well known with certain materials. Whereas certain plastics do not deteriorate offering distinct advantages. Colors for esthetic appearance are incorporated in the material compound and become an integral part of the plastic for the life of the product. 

Ideally, when considering the level of treatment necessary to achieve sterility a knowledge of the type and total number of miciooiganisms present in a product, together with their likely response to the proposed treatment, is necessary. Without this information, however, it is usually assumed that organisms within the load are no more resistant than the reference spores or than specific resistant product isolates. In the latter case, it must be remembered that resistance may be altered or lost entirely by laboratory subculture and the resistance characteristics of the maintained strain must be regularly checked.

They also synthesized polymeric iniferters containing the disulfide moiety in the main chain [149,150]. As shown in Eq. Figure 3 shows the sensitivity curves for SPP (solid lines) compared with that of a novolac-based resist (dashed line). From these curves, we obtained the maximum clearing dose (Dq), the dose for 50% thickness remaining (D50), and lithographic contrast (7-value). These resist characteristics are summarized in Table I.

The familiar positive photoresists. Hunt s HPR, Shipley s Microposit, Azoplate s AZ etc., are all two-component, resist systems, consisting of a phenolic resin matrix material and a diazonaphthoquinone sensitizer. The matrix material is essentially inert to photochemistry and was chosen for its film-forming, adhesion, chemical and thermal resistance characteristics. The chemistry of the resist action only occurs in the sensitizer molecule, the diazonaphthoquinone. A detailed description of these materials, their chemical structures and radiation chemistry will be discussed in Section 3.5.b.
