The apocalyptic mentality lives with unbelievable intensity in the continuous present, burning himself out in order to produce a break-through into eternity he wants his revolution and he wants it now. His desire is for a communion with the entire world, an undifferentiated sense of merging that allows for no distinctions out of this mode arises the psychopath. His ideal is an anarchic chaos that would be hell on earth. Norman O. Brown s Love s Body describes this mode, and figures like Dylan Thomas, Charlie Parker, and Richard Farina embody it. 

It is obvious that the manipulated brain of the masses, filled from birth with emotional misbeliefs, illusions, misinterpretations, myths, fantasies, motivates - given the right circumstances - irrational activities. In peaceful periods of the community rational brain activity is dominant and the irrational, emotional chaos is suppressed. There are specially organized occasions for the eruption of the volcano (concerts, sport-events, proper political party meetings, etc.). But in emotionally supersensitive, trying periods of the community (riots, revolutions, wars) the irrational brain becomes dominant. The immense literature that describes the history of mankind is, as a matter of fact, an exact description of the consequences of traditional manipulation of the human brain. 

If Germany had been forced to surrender in 1915, Lenin might never have made it back to Russia from exile in Switzerland. The Bolshevik revolution might never have happened, or it might have taken a milder course. Germany, too, would have been much less likely to descend into economic chaos and political bloodletting. In the absence of Fritz Haber, in other words, we might never have heard the names Hitler and Stalin. 

So here you are, a citizen in the most violent country in human history. You re sorting yourself out and finding your place in this great Independent Citizen s Army. You ve come a long way and you re getting ready for the revolutions and chaos ahead of us.

As a paradigm pioneer, the social artist is able to see trends, and the emergence of new patterns out of apparent chaos.
