Channel pressure drop

Zinc oxide is usually contained in long, thin beds to lessen the chances of channeling. Pressure drop through the beds is low. Bed life is a function of gas H2S content and can vary from 6 months to in excess of 10 years. The spent catalyst is discharged by gravity flow and contains up to 20 weight percent of sulfur. [Pg.160]

Check the system (or loop) instability by using the Ledinegg criterion with an average lumped channel pressure drop. If it does not satisfy the Ledinegg stability criterion, one or more of the three remedies can be taken orifice the inlet, increase the steepness of the pump head-versus-flow curve or increase the resistance of the downcomer of a natural-circulation loop. [Pg.507]

Cassettes use a short feed channel path length to reduce the feed channel pressure drop. Flat sheet membranes used in cassettes allow for a wide ranging selection of MWCO in UF membranes, as well as various micrometer ratings in MF... [Pg.413]

This equation can now be used to obtain the following relationships between the experimentally relevant factors,A P, the total trans-channel pressure drop, A P, the average op-... [Pg.240]

Destabilization Mechanism To use or predict flow boiling instabilities, it is essential to understand the mechanisms which lead to the instabilities. These mechanisms can usually be found by analyzing the flow patterns. For flow boiling in a microchannel, the previous section evidenced that flow boiling instabilities appear and lead to periodical pressure oscillations. The flow even returns to the entrance (Fig. 7). To determine the destabilization mechanism which occurs in such a situation, we quantified the phenomena involved in the instability, such as vapor generation rate, total channel pressure drop, etc. [Pg.1140]

The CARA fuel design is adjusted to the conditions of the operating NPPs, mainly the coolant flow and hydraulic channel pressure drop, and is mechanically compatible with the refuelling machines of the vertical and horizontal channel reactors. [Pg.48]

The horizontal LAD testing methodology is depicted in Figure 9.8. To measure the frictional and dynamic pressure drops, the channel is mounted inside a test tank and flow is routed through the screen and out through a port at the end of the channel. Pressure drop as a function of mass flow rate down the LAD is measured at multiple locations to quantify performance. [Pg.223]

The set of primary and secondary factors which influence LAD design were formulated, and a suite of physics-based models for the influential factors were developed and validated both in storable and cryogenic propellants. While the models agreed well with historical room temperature data, all LAD models validated by cryogenic data, including bubble point pressure, reseal pressure, FTS pressure drop, TVS cooling efficiency, and full-scale LAD channel pressure drop show strong temperature dependence and deviation from the room temperature behavior. The models derived here and validated both by the... [Pg.371]

The permeate channel pressure drop along the x-direction is negligible. [Pg.562]

Flow inside a microchannel may operate in multiple flow regimes. Let us consider a long microchannel with the entrance pressure to be atmospheric and exit conditions to be near vacuum. As air flows down the channel, pressure drops to overcome viscous forces in the channel. For prevailing isothermal conditions, density also drops. The conservation of mass requires the flow to accelerate down the constant area tube. The fluid acceleration affects the pressure gradient, resulting in nonlinear pressure drop in the channel. The Mach number increases down the tube, limited only by the choked flow condition. Mean free path increases with the corresponding increase in Knudsen number. The simple duct flow manifests all possible complexity in flows. Note that similar situation may take place when the entrance pressure is high, that is, at 7 atm and exit pressure is atmospheric. [Pg.83]

To provide mechanical support for the electrolyte structure and avoid tenting into the channels, which results in poor catalyst-DM conductivity, elevated channel pressure drop, catalyst layer damage, and local water pooling. [Pg.290]

Gas velocities at anode side are relatively low, which means low pressure drops across anode channels. Pressure drop values of 1-1.5% have been found [18]. [Pg.135]

To compare to the prediction of the first and second roots (instability lines) at low and high quality there are many data in the literature. We must know, or be able to estimate or calculate the loss coefficients and use only data where the channel pressure drop is constant, relevant to the reactor situation. [Pg.56]
