Cooper and Helmstetter (11) have shown that, under a variety of growth conditions, many experimental observations are consistent with a model In which the time for replication of the entire chromosome of E. aoli B/r Is approximately forty minutes. During this time, the rate of replication fork advance appears to be constant. Furthermore, cell division control Is related to DNA synthesis the bacterial cell divides approximately twenty minutes after a replication fork reaches the terminus of the chromosome. These features In combination Imply Interesting patterns of DNA synthesis In Individual bacterial cells. 

Cell Division Inhibitors. The most common mode of action of soil-appHed herbicides is growth inhibition, primarily through dkect or indkect interference with cell division (163). Such growth inhibitory activity is the basis for most pre- or post-emergent herbicides intended to control germinating weed seeds. In germinating seeds, cell division occurs in the meristems of the root and the shoot. Meristematic cells go through a cycle... 

All mature blood cells arise from primitive hematopoietic cells in the bone marrow, the pluripotent stem cells. Approximately 0.1% of the nucleated cells of the bone marrow are pluripotent stem cells and approximately 5% of these cells may be actively cycling at any one time. The stem cell pool maintains itself through a process of asymmetrical cell division when a stem cell divides, one daughter cell remains a stem cell and the other becomes a committed colony-forming cell (CFC). The proliferation and differentiation of CFCs are controlled by hematopoietic growth factors. The hematopoietic growth factors stimulate cell division, differentiation and maturation, and convert the dividing cells into a population of terminally differentiated functional cells.

Nasmyth There is a classic experiment to address whether there is size control. That is to transiently delay the cell cycle so that you produce abnormally large cells. Then you look at the cell division time of subsequent cycles. If these experiments are done with bacteria or yeast, the subsequent cycles are greatly accelerated. These experiments could be done by Bruce Edgar and his imaginal discs. They are technically harder, but they could be done.
