Canada continued regulation

In July 2008, Environment Canada published a final regulation allowing the continued use, sale, and import of deca-BDE in Canada.104 The rule also prohibits the use, sale, offer for sale, and import of penta and octa-BDE. In addition, the manufacture of all PBDEs in Canada, which does not currently occur, is prohibited. Dr. Xin Liu received his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from Wuhan University (2002), China, and thereafter worked for Professor Lu at the College of Life Science as a postdoctoral fellow, innovating measurement approaches for plant hormone regulation. In 2004, he continued his postdoctoral research at York University, Canada, focusing on hiomolecular interactions. He worked as an NSERC visiting fellow at the Institute for Biological Sciences, National Research Council of Canada in 2005-2008. His research interests focus on MS-hased proteomics and glycomics. 

Mexico is also moving toward a chemical inventory regulation. The key question is whether this new approach will resemble that of the United States, Canada or some other existing system. In 1989, tlie 09-Supercat was designed and supplied to Canada. This was the first continuous action tamping machine that could also handle turnouts. In addition the machine was equipped with ballast regulators at the front and a ballast broom at the rear. The machine served veiy well on Canadian Pacific Railroad. A whole district which had previously been maintained by a number of maclhnes could now be handled by just one machine.
